Mayo has an outstanding jumper. When he gets in the NBA with the increased spacing and on a team that has some inside options he's going to be solid. His defence is top-notch. He's a tweener in a positive way and a gym rat.

Rose has a poor outside shot and little mid-range game. I see him struggling his first year as the defence sags off him and dares him to shoot.

It will be harder, not easier for Mayo to get his shot off in the NBA. He is neither a great shooter or defender. He is certainly good at both, but he is great at neither.

I think OJ Mayo is very close to Rose, and could be better in the NBA, but Rose's athleticism is scary and Mayo is stuck between two positions.

Mayo isn't too far off, he arguably has the same amount of potential as Rose if not a bit more, rjeason why Rose is touted as the better prospect is because he has a better feel for the game and more a pure PG.

Bayless from a talent standpoint at least might be a level below the other two.

Biggest difference is that Rose is a natural PG...Mayo and Bayless are both much better suited to play SG

mayo is a full year older than Rose which imo hurts his stock a little. then, a jumpshot is easier to learn than inherent athletic ability. a lot of players' shots improve, just look at how ft % rises for many players. rose also has better natural pg passing ability that really cant be learned. mayo also has many more character issues than rose

Rose is a point guard.

Bayless is a combo guard, who actually plays better off the ball.

Mayo does better creating his own shot, he has a jumpshooter's skillset.
