This is LeBron's best team by far... Dude won't even have to break a sweat to win the title... which is bizarre after years upon years of intense grueling carry jobs.
Has to be said that AD, especially when he's hitting his mid-range/outside shots, is simply better than any version of Wade that LeBron has ever played with...When you account for his ability to scale/fit alongside other dominant ball-handlers and his versatility it's not even close, imo.
Defensively, this is the best team LeBron has ever been on. And it's not even close. He has a DPOY-level defender in Davis alongside him, he has elite rim protection from McGee/Howard, he has Caruso and Rondo who are both elite backcourt defenders... Morris and Danny Green are both solid. Not to mention an elite defensive coach in Vogel and no egregiously bad defensive sieves on the roster. Even guys like Kuzma/KCP are decent under the right circumstances.
Shooting-wise, those Cleveland teams were obviously better (some of the Miami ones as well, especially when Wade sat). But oddly enough, the Lakers are quietly putting up some great shooting numbers as a team... Obviously having 'stretch 4s' like Davis and Kieff/Kuz, as well as the ability to play both in the same lineup without giving up much to the other team, makes them extremely difficult to defend. But then you add KCP who is shooting 43% from three, Danny Green is at 38% and freaking Rondo at 47%... This team can knock down shots... Honestly, the only guys in the rotation that aren't threats punish you from outside are McGee/Dwight and Caruso... Everybody else is a threat.
Playmaking wise? It's tough. Prior to the start of the PS, i'd say no... But with the emergence of Rondo, it has given the Lakers something which any prior team LeBron was on never had... And that's another floor general who is a natural high level facilitator... Wade and Kyrie were great playmakers, but mostly because of their ability to drive/score and then make the obvious passes when the defenses reacted... Rondo's ability to run the pick n roll with guys like Davis/LeBron as receivers is unfair... Adds a whole different dynamic to the team... Speaking of Davis... At this point, i'm practically ready to admit he's become a better passer than either Bosh or Love... He's noticeably improved in that area and now actually makes some great reads/passes out there.
