...but tell me more about Shaq deserved "the lion's share of the credit". At the very least it was a clear 1a/1b thing. Get real.

Good research to support your position. But I already stipulated that metrics generally liked Bryant's postseason better. My caution about taking them at face value rested on the fact that Shaq faced a slate of defensive bigs arguably comparable to Kareem's opposition in the '71 playoffs (Thurmond, Wilt and Unseld). If we stipulate to the idea that Shaq played harder defenses than Kobe (not unreasonable, but hypothetical) then we need to take that into account when comparing their performances. At the intersection of the matchups and Shaq being the better player in all three regular seasons and the '00 and '02 playoffs, I err toward favoring Shaq in contribution if I have to pick one. I could be wrong.

As for the rest . . . Each time I try and respond to you professionally and courteously and each time you seem to interpret it as a dastardly ploy uttered in bad faith. And if you believe that about me, there is unlikely to be anything I can say that will change your mind. Which is sad, but I suppose that it is what it is.

What's sad is people throwing up flimsy straw-men and going on irrelevant tangents instead of addressing the actual points being made, but whatever.

Whats sad is getting upset on a forum when someone who provides context and comes to a different conclusion than you do. I get it, I've been there, but accept the fact that there are some arguments for Shaq, even if weak arguments, they are laid out by someone [Sansterre] in an objective manner.

I get that someone may disagree with Sansterre's arguments, but to be dismissive of someone who has put so much time and effort into creating a huge project like this, I don't know what to say.
If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.
