Yeah I just find myself shaking my head. He seemed cooked...and then he pulls out his finest performance yet.
I think he’s just hurt lol
I feel Jimmy’s the type of guy where you won’t know he’s hurt unless he’s very hurt lol
I have a hard time seeing him bounce back in Game 6 like he did and not think that there's a mental component going on to.
But we've got this Game 7 now, and it's going to be huge. To me, the Celtics should win this series and are clearly the team the Warriors should be more worried about...but all the Heat have to do is win one more game, and if they do with Jimmy playing like this, it'll be legendary.
I definately think he was disheartened and he said the pick me up message from Wade helped, but he definately was looking hurt the last 2 games, even this one to be honest
The Celtics are definately the favorites but there’s something about this Miami team that if they can stay in the game and get off to a good start they can kinda do it, because watching the games it’s kinda crazy that this is a game 7
One thing lost in this is how good the heats defense has been so far
By bball index
Hawks offense
116.5 off rtg
Vs the heat
102.7 off rtg
The 76ers offense since getting harden
119.8 off rtg
Vs the heat
105.7 off rtg
Against the Celtics, it’s mostly brought down by that crazy game 2 where their def rtg was 135, outside of that it’s been about 109.6
Since the start of the new year they’ve been going crazy anyways and have had a 119.4 off rtg
Since new year
119.4 off rtg
Vs the heat
113.9 off rtg
(Take out outlier game and it’s about 109.6)
Another way to look at this is if you order their highest to lowest off rtg games (for bucks and Miami)
Miami 135.1
Bucks 120
Bucks 119.6
Bucks 115.1
Miami 114
Bucks 112.8
Bucks 111.7
Miami 110.9
Miami 110.5
Miami 107.9
Miami 104.5
Bucks 101.5
Bucks 89.7
even with the outlier games I do think the profile of games makes this more impressive for Miami than milwakee.
They’ve essentially played like a -10 defense throughout the playoffs
Obv there are other factors involved, but it’s kinda crazy considering that their team from a personal standpoint isn’t something that makes you think “oh crazy defense”
Like the Celtics have an ABSURD defensive lineup
Smart isn’t my pick for dpoy but he’s probably the best defensive pg in the league
Brown and Tatum are both very elite defensive wings
Grant Williams randomly became absurd on defense and apparently can power bomb giannis
Robert Williams is insane
Horford was probably the best defender on the team
Derrick white is a great team defender
Like, literally 6/8 of their players could be classified as elite defensively, and only Pritchard is actually not good defensively.
The heat in comparison really don’t have a absurd one
Jimmy is great on defense, and bam is great, lowrys been hurt, Duncan and herro are trash defensively, PJ is great, struss/Vincent/Martin are hardly regarded i think, oladipo had been good on d this series
From a Results based perspective it’s not been too far off, although I would definately say the Celtics d is a lot better, the non stars from the nets just went crazy from three, but the fact that if we’re going purely by a relative def rtg (given performance trends) the heat have actually been the “best defense” this postseason (given the three teams all were in the 117-120 range when they faced them) is kinda wild since I wouldn’t even call their defensive lineup elite
I know they mix up coverages to practice them for the playoffs during the RS, but SPO be crazy
