Some weak years may have misled, but Jordan have one year(88) dpoy level in the seasons, Lebron none(but his 16 Finals was at the dpoy level).

2009/2010 and 12/13 Lebron was just a bit more than all defensive level, those years were not close to DPOY level.

74 Kareem is the first name that came to mind. He was the MVP and either the best or second best offensive player (along with McAdoo) and with Wilt no longer playing and Thurmond past his prime, he would have been the favorite to win DPOY if such an award existed. 76 Kareem is another possibility; MVP (WITHOUT making the playoffs due to an odd and since abolished seeding system), best offensive player and certainly in the running for DPOY (depending on how many votes Walton would get given he only played 51 games).

76 Erving is another distant possibility. MVP and clearly the best offensive player in the league who was also First Team All Defense, although I suspect Jones and/or Gilmore may have beaten him out for DPOY if such an award existed.
