Some weak years may have misled, but Jordan have one year(88) dpoy level in the seasons, Lebron none(but his 16 Finals was at the dpoy level).

2009/2010 and 12/13 Lebron was just a bit more than all defensive level, those years were not close to DPOY level.

74 Kareem is the first name that came to mind. He was the MVP and either the best or second best offensive player (along with McAdoo) and with Wilt no longer playing and Thurmond past his prime, he would have been the favorite to win DPOY if such an award existed. 76 Kareem is another possibility; MVP (WITHOUT making the playoffs due to an odd and since abolished seeding system), best offensive player and certainly in the running for DPOY (depending on how many votes Walton would get given he only played 51 games).

76 Erving is another distant possibility. MVP and clearly the best offensive player in the league who was also First Team All Defense, although I suspect Jones and/or Gilmore may have beaten him out for DPOY if such an award existed.

I'd believe a case for Mikan, Wilt and Kareem.

I can't believe a case for Shaq, Giannis, LeBron, MJ or Duncan.
The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player

Wilt in 1967 and 1968.

Wilt's First Round demolition of the Royals in the '67 playoffs.

28.0 ppg, 26.5 rpg, 22.6 TRB%, 11.0 apg, .617 FG%. (A Triple-Double series.)

The .617 eFG% came in a post-season NBA that shot an eFG% of .424...or nearly 20 percentage points higher than the post-season league average.

Two Triple Doubles in a five-game series..

37-27-11
16-30-19-14

High game of 41 points.

19 assists in game three tied the playoff record at that time.

In Wilt's '67 EDF's, which came against the 60-21 Celtics

Chamberlain not only had four triple-double games in that five-game series when you include blocks he also had two known quad-doubles of 24-32-13-12.

And 29-36-13-17

Oh, and for those that value TRB%...Chamberlain enjoyed a 25.2 to 18.2 TRB% advantage over Russell in that series.

Then in the finals against Nate.
Chamberlain not only had four triple-double games in that six-game series when you include blocks

he also had a known quad-double of 10-38-10-10 in game 2 of that series.
Reggie Jackson is amazing and a killer in the clutch that's all.
