Continuing to call it a Joe Johnson/Boris Diaw trade is giving them value on the trade.
The real trade was Joe Johnson/Cap room, with other pieces added, and if you name these pieces, it's Diaw, but it's also the pick of Robin Lopez, and mainly the pick of Rajon Rondo (who could have improve the team enough to not get the pick of Lopez but a lower pick).

Magic Johnson would be a great owner. Like him or not, he's a winner.

I'd gladly take Magic Johnson over John Moores since both have around the same net worth.

I'm not calling it the "Johnson/Diaw trade" implying those were the only assets involved. I'm definitely not using the term to imply the Spirit ("them"?) got the best "value" of the trade. I used it to reference how what WAS an offer to Joe Johnson that many, including Belkin, felt would not be matched, turned into a sign and trade for Johnson, led to the infighting amongst owners, which led to the court case, the remaining members of the Atlanta Spirit losing $ hand over fist without Belkin's $ in the mix, has now led to them losing a professional team outright.

Spirit ends exclusivity on Hawks sale talks

The Atlanta Spirit ownership group is on the verge of selling the Thrashers, but it will be holding on to the Hawks at least for a while.

The Spirit and outgoing San Diego Padres owner John Moores agreed Friday to terminate Moores' exclusive negotiating period on a possible purchase of the Hawks, Spirit partner Michael Gearon Jr. confirmed.

"We no longer have an exclusivity," Gearon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "It was ended by mutual agreement after preliminary discussions." http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-hawks ... orts_61522

Could it be that with the sale of the hockey team someone with maybe deeper pockets have come along
with a sweeter deal? We can only hope! :D :D

It's becoming more difficult for me to read Mark Bradley's work.

The Atlanta Spirit Group need such a large group to own two professional organizations. They ran the Thrashers into the ground by letting the star players and fan favorites leave without replacing them. The fans stopped attending and the Atlanta Thrashers are no longer here. The product the ASG put on the ice was terrible.

The ASG is such a joke that Ilya Kovalchuk turned down 12-years, $101 million from them and signed with New Jersey for 17-years, $102 million. He knew he was working for an incompetent ownership during his time as a Thrasher. I heard one of the members of the ASG on one of the sports am stations a couple weeks ago talking about how the group basically became bored of the team.
