I'd craft a trade package right now around DeAndre Hunter and the Kings pick for Cam Whitmore and Jabari Smith, Jr.

Oh, no doubt. That likely played a role in Whitmore falling out of the lottery of the 2023 Draft.

He is an asset right now, though...plus we need a wing scorer.

Truth is...I don't see a world where De'Andre Hunter's trade value is ever higher than it is right now. Same for that King's pick.

Whitmore and Jabari, however, have a legit shot at improving in the long run and providing cheap depth in the short term.

My guy jam out here tryna trade Hunter for a guy who might be as good as Hunter in a few years. But who'll probably immediately become an attitude and lockerroom problem.

No problem there, I guess. :)

Never change, jamallo.

And, no, Whitmore is not an asset. He's pyrite.

Capela, who has an expiring contract, might be the most likely player to move. The Hawks could be a dark-horse candidate to land Brandon Ingram or Deandre Ayton, but competing executives note that whatever long-term move they make, they’ll stay under the luxury tax. – via Bleacher Report

Yep...

We all know that it's best to trade a stock at its highest value.

Yet, it becomes incredibly difficult to do so when the time actually comes. And so the same scenario plays out over and over again.

Thoughts on this trade.
Detroit trades: Fontecchio/25 TOR 2nd
Detroit gets: LeVert

Cleveland trades: LeVert/Niang/31 CLE 1st(top 1 becomes 31 CLE 2nd)
Cleveland gets: Hunter

Atlanta trades: Hunter
Atlanta gets: Niang/Fontecchio/25 TOR 2nd/31 CLE 1st

Hawks get more shooting depth and save $6 million next season.

Regarding Hunter, I don't believe his value just goes up/down by how poorly or good he's playing at the moment. He seemed to be playing below avg during the talks with Tor for Siakam so the Hawks value him for his capabilities moreso whether he's running hot or cold.

Capela seems to be the easy domino to fall for the first trade. Nothing expect much but a 2nd or two.

I backed off the FO a bit after the DD trade. I really think FO just got lucky. I don't think they had a crystal ball to see DD grow so much

Aside from that trade, they have done nothing to improve the team. It takes mutiple trades over time to improve a team

Seeing Richards blow up like that just antother easy move that could have been tried

I said we addressed the overall fit by trading DJM, but did not address the overall talent this offseason.
No backup PG and PF.
Depending on perpetually injured guys in Bogi and Hunter to be healthy.
And on and on.

Now would be a good time to go after Ayton, and bring OO back off the bench. Ayton's skillset could really flourish here in Atlanta. We don't lose anything from a rebounding perspective, and after watching the Bucks game last night, Ayton can move his feet well enough to defend the perimeter.

Quin could be the coach to really bring out the best in him. We've seen such a huge difference in Hunter by placing him on the bench as a scorer. I'd imagine Ayton would shine working with JJ as a 4/5 combo on PnR or PnP. Ayton can also put the ball on the floor himself and knock down elbow jumpers.

I would be very concerned about taking on that contract. It comes down to what would Atlanta give up (a combo of Bogi, Capela, Nance, Zeller I am assuming) and what we get in return for taking him on.

Pass on DeAndre Ayton. Does not have Hawks DNA.

There's a reason two straight NBA Franchises have given up on him before he hits his NBA Prime.

He's an expiring next year. Yes it would be a combo of contracts you named. I agree that I wouldn't go over the top for him, but I would strongly consider him at the deadline. Maybe more so now since the news of JJ.
