Rebounding = Overrated!
We out rebounded them by nearly 2 times as much and we win by 4 points?
Turnovers = Underrated!
Our FIVE huge 4th quarter turnovers killed our 15 point lead.

I thought they were awful, both ways I guess, but awful. I can handle calling it tight or letting them play but the crazy flagrant call on PJ Brown a series of three non contact fouls on the C's. Then Hunter is out there playing Georgetown defense and he doesn't even pick up a foul until the second half. The two techs on Sheed and Perk were crap. I just hate NBA refs right now, because we have to talk about them. Stern needs to have a "you ain't the show" meeting with these clowns before the **** up a great postseason. Just call the game don't impact it.

I thought the rebounding was what won us the game, ultimately. We had more attempts and more FG's made, which means we had more possessions, and that's primarily due to having the ball more..... from rebounding well.
The rebounding and having more possessions overcame the FT advantage and the 3-pt advantage of the pistons.

Rebounding by itself is just a stat, but is a critical component of controlling the paint....and that is what wins titles...always has.
Rebounding covers mistakes. Turnovers and bad shooting can be mitigated by controlling the boards as it limits other teams shots and allows your team to take more shots.
High rebound totals also usually mean tough position inside which leads to free throws and foul trouble for the other team.
Sorry for the formatting but below is the box score for one of the biggest games in Celtics history.
Game 4 of the 1984 finals when the Green, lucky to be down just 2-1, took back home court advantage and quenched the Laker's fire....the game where McHale clothes-lined Rambus
The Lakers shot 59% from the floor and lost the game because Boston took 26 more shots.
Check out the offensive rebounds. Bird shot like Antoine Walker that game but he killed the Lakers on the boards and that helped get him to the FT line.
Rebounds alone win nothing but very rarely does a team win without winning the boards.

Check the stats. It's not regular rebounds that kill a team. It's second chances that kill teams. OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS are ETHER.
True......but of course every defensive rebound a team gets is an offensive rebound denied to the the other team.
Rebounds are an important part of the big picture but almost no statistic stands alone.

The thing with stats is that it is key to not to get to wrapped up on the relevance of the stat to the winning or losing. Each thing tells you how a team is playing. Rebounds and FT's usually describe a team playing physical, assists show a team moving the ball on offense, steals show a team being active on defense. At the same time there can plenty of false positives, the Knicks are a roster full of them.
James Posey on nightly basis has shows us that stats don't tell the story. Sometimes you look at his box and he hasn't done a thing and he is a -14 and he did nothing but ball.
