Rondo sent a clear message to Hinrich, don't push us around b/c we could do the same.

sam dalembert provoked dwight. According to Rafer House provoked him. Hinrich provoked Rondo. Doesn't matter if the action was merited or not. The action remains the same. Rondo THREW Hinrich into the scorers table. That's a worse offense then a love tap by rafer alston. That's why Stan said that.

Well the league disagreed. So maybe - just maybe - you and your dbag couch are wrong. Crazy idea.

As a previous writer said most people do not believe Alston should be suspended, something that Doc Rivers said today. The whole thing has gone too far where teams and especially fans want cheap advantages to win them series. Throwing Rondo or Alston out is absurd - if someone is trying to hurt someone then suspend. Each team lobbies for what is good for his team and forgets the rest. Van Gundy wants justice and figures he is getting the short end, yet it is OK for Howard to be in the restricted area get in the way of Pierce on critical last second plays, make contact late in the regular season and now in the first game of the playoffs on critical calls. So he'll compare love tap versus throwing, but forget his own advantages.
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

I didn't think he should have been suspended, but if the league wants to make an example of someone that freakin' stupid then that's their perogative.

But I'm just sick of the cry-baby fans that think they have no bias. If you can't tell the difference between what Alton did and Rondo pushing a guy that was fouling him or giving a hard foul on a game deciding play then I don't know what to tell you. I do know I'd hate to play pickup with you.

Saying they're the same play doesn't make it so.

So the key is if your going to elbow someone across the face or take a cheap shot make sure you do it while a play is going on and not after.

Does anyone else see the hole in this reasoning? ?
My 2 cents is worth 5 cents.

I want someone to save this for when you guys are calling for Doc's head within 6 months of Garnett's retirement.

Yeah, one play occurs normally in the course of a game and the other is a frustration move by a player on a team down by 20. One play was made to win the game and other was made out of pure frustration after the game was already decided. One play was a last second play on the ball and the other play was pre-meditated, malicious, non-basketball play on a guy who DIDN'T have the ball and was harmlessly running up the court. I mean, one play happened at the basket and the other play happened beyond the 3 point line. It's simple to see why one was just a good hard foul and the other was a non-basketball, thug-like bitch-slap deserving of a suspension.

No, Stan said that because he's a douche bag. He's not dumb enough to actually equate the plays as similar, but being a whiny douche bag he just tried to make the stupid case the Cs were getting favorable rulings from the league office (which couldn't be further from the truth) while his poor team of soft, heartless athletes was getting the shaft from the big bad commissioner. Rondo and Hinrich got tangled up in some rebounding action: Rondo PULLED Hinrich (who had already begun to lose his balance because of his overly-physical boxing out) past him, and Hinrich's momentum carried him into the scorer's table. It was a physical, playoff level intensity situation where two guys just got a little carried away.

Alston's action was completely different; the game was out of hand, there actual play was over, House was running up the court, and Alston--unprovoked, at least if you go off the video evidence, which shows NO ELBOW being throw, only an elbow possibly being cocked for a second or two--came up FROM BEHIND and SLAPPED House. It was pre-meditated, malicious and clearly a non-basketball, potential fight-starting action and the league dealt with it correctly.

You can equate them in your head only if you're stupid or a douche bag. I don't think Van Gundy is stupid.

Really, I think most NBA fans realize the C's caught a break, as Rondo absolutely should have been suspended.

However, he has lost the benefit of the doubt. In the future, his reputation as a punk will hurt him.

Oh yeah? 3 time NBA champion PGs aren't even good enough to play for Boston - they get shipped to Sacto to make room for Marbury...

Return to Boston Celtics
