Gimmie a damn break, if George ends up there.
That'd be absurd. Danny should go for it, just to.keep him away from Cleveland

At that point, you have to trade for him, otherwise passing on developing Fultz sure looks pretty stupid, considering there'd be absolutely ZERO chance you'd be beating Cleveland or Golden State for the foreseeable future.

Or, if we don't think Fultz is that much better than whoever we are going to draft, we keep the picks and we have an extra top 5 pick one of the next two years. We kick the draft lotto can down the road one more year, and set ourselves up with more prospects with which to contend post-Warriors/Cavs. I'm not sure if I prefer us trading the picks or keeping them at this point.
If he wanted to win above all else, you wouldn't be hearing about the Lakers as the frontrunner for where he ends up. I mean I suppose you could say he thinks LeBron ends up there too, but this George to LA thing was rumored well before Cavs even got beat badly in Finals and the rumors of LeBron leaving started.GregB wrote:I really think we are getting Paul George now. He wants to win and no other team besides Cleveland and GS has a better shot than us.

Yes, thank you for laying out what not trading for PG would look like.

Passing on Fultz is not dumb based on anything Paul George does unless our only plan of action is to cash in all of our chips in order to win a championship. If we miss out on Paul George and he goes to Cleveland, we have the option of staying put, and it only becomes dumb based on whether or not the picks pan out, not how many rings George wins with LeBron. I'm just responding to your logic that we must trade for Paul George so that he doesn't go to CLE.

I am 100% convinced if we trade for George, he will be here for the long haul. The LA stuff is just talk.
Cleveland is in talks with indiana. Thats huge. Danny should take advantage of this. We get George, he's not going anywhere

If we sign a max FA, also acquiring George would almost surely mean sending out one or two more guys from our current core than would otherwise be necessary, for reasons of salary match. The main way it's only one is if we preserve Olynyk's rights rather than renouncing him, and then he signs somewhere for a lot of money in a S&T. The only other way that comes to mind is an absurdly complex scenarion in whch we S&T for the max FA, while sending multiple of our current bigs out on S&Ts as well.
So getting him for super, super cheap may be impractical anyway on our end.
