The Memphis pick that Cleveland owns is basically reverse lottery protected. That pick along with the Pelicans pick that Houston owns could be 2 of the more valuable trade assets at the trade deadline.

That Pels pick I would definitely take, but not sure Houston gives that for Wright. The Memphis pick is far more uncertain and I think Wright is more highly valued than that.

The Memphis Pick remains a first rounder....it just may be a couple years down the road because Memphis is good right now.

I think that is a good haul for Wright...and probably more than we can get realistically. Sure there is uncertainty, but it will be a first rounder and the way the protection is...it could be just as good as the Pelicans pick if there is a mishap for Memphis in the next few years.

Wright, as the "blossoming center" was supposed to be the centerpiece of the Rondo trade for us. Maybe why I'm having such a hard time with accepting a pick so protected as Memphis' is is because it means we traded Rondo, in essence, for a heavily protected pick that could potentially not vest until 2019

Depending on what assets (s) we send out, how would you feel about this? I posted this in the Cavs thread about us being facilitators:

Any trade with Cleveland that also involves Memphis could actually be good for us regarding Cleveland holding Memphis' pick.

That pick sucks as is. It is protected 1-5 and 15-30 for '15 and '6 and 1-5 for '17 and '18. A 2017 draft pick that could be in the 20s for a substantial asset is what it well could be.

However, if we are giving up anything substantial to Memphis, we should demand that Memphis remove all restrictions on the pick. That would be far more palatable to me than some pick 3-5 years in the future that might or might not be something good.

The NYK/DEN 1st that TOR owns + Salary filler could satisfy Boston, no? (I'm sure the Raps would take a look at Wright while they're at it too)

The Memphis pick is better as its is protected than unprotected. If unprotected it is like a 28th pick in 2015. The way it is protected its probably much better in 2017

Cleveland also owns Miami's 2015 first round pick that's top ten protected until 2017 (unprotected). Therefore, Miami's first round pick's more appealing since it has fewer protections.

Chris Bosh is the only long-term contract. Conversely, Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng have a Player's option for next season. Basically their roster consist of some moving parts, including Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem and Shabazz Napier.

What's the future of impending unrestricted free agent Marc Gasol? Although I would think that Jordan Adams and Jarnell Stokes are a part of their long-term plans, Memphis certainty could've a different roster by 2017. Retool or rebuild? That is, there's no guaranteed that Zach Randolph (age), Mike Conley, Courtney Lee, Tony Allen (age) and Vince Carter (age) aren't traded or signed else where before then.

My sources are telling me that the Miami pick is actually owned by Philly now..

Evidently, the pick was included in a three-team trade that I'd forgotten about or I was unaware of the details of the compensation.

2015 first round draft pick to Philadelphia
Miami's 1st round pick to Philadelphia (via Cleveland) protected for selections 1-10 in 2015 and 1-10 in 2016 and unprotected in 2017 [Cleveland-Miami, 7/9/2010; Cleveland-Minnesota-Philadelphia, 8/23/2014]

From the Suns board:

All the names they threw out to obtain Dragic, Morey is looking at giving them away to clear space.

I know there are some Capela fans on this board.. Could we chop off 2-3 million from our TPE to get him?

We have 1.33 M avalaible in the Kris Humphries trade exception no need to use the big TPE. Capela makes 1.18 M.

Ainge should take Capela, but we must waive someone else, hope they cut Pressey.

Capela needs another year or two before even sniffing NBA minutes, but the tools are definitely there. I'd gladly take the risk for a TPE and a 2nd or two (we have a lot of them) and just stash him.

Humphries TPE and 1-2 seconds for Capela would be a great gamble, but then we'd need a 2-for-1 or 1-for-pick trade..

Realistically though, it makes a lot more sense for the Rockets to just dump Dorsey or Black.

I wouldn't mind either of Nick Johnson(very good potential, very cheap), Isiaah Canon(actually played for the rockets and looked really good, a PG), or Capela...
Good assessment:

Cavs in: Koufus
Cavs Out: Keith Bogans TPE, Memphis 2015 Protected 1st Round Pick

Celtics In: 2015 Protected Memphis 1st Round Pick, Prince
Celtics Out: Jeff Green, 2015 Second Round Pick

Grizzlies In: Jeff Green, Celtics 2015 Second Round Pick
Grizzlies Out: Koufus, Prince

Why for Cavs? They get young center they really want.
Why for Celtics? Stockpile picks and facilitates tank.
Why for Grizzlies? They get legitimate starting SF they need who averages 19 ppg and can guard multiple positions.

Who says "No"? I honestly believe everyone wins.

Does PHO have enough picks to make this happen?

Green and Sully for IT and #1(s)

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=q7mtnwr

Then throw a 2nd or two at Morey to take Capela off his hands and clear a roster spot for JSmoove.

Last year Boston went in on Cousins. Back then the rumour was Sully, Bradley, and two first round picks. Now Cousins value has grown, he is on an extended contract, but Sacramento are regressing and he was tight with Mike Malone.

They have dropped something like 5 in a row recently and if the Williams trade falls through and they dont get a premier PG, then it wont be long before they have a disgruntled Cousins on their hands.

Of course, Boston would need a premier PG to go with a Cousins so they would have to find a way to get one, and the most accessible talented PG will likely be Reggie Jackson, who is the type of combo guard Ainge loves.

Thats who I expect Boston to go after. How they piece it together...I leave to the trade experts.
