During a full court game, I looked over and who is sitting on a park bench watching us?? it was Popp and his wife before she passed away. Popp was definitely trying to keep on the low wearing a baseball cap and had a grizzly beard. But anybody who watches the NBA would recognize him immediately. Part of me wanted to stop the game and go over and say hello to a legend. But I also did not want to give away his privacy. He generally looked like he was enjoying watching us on a beautiful spring day At Central park. At some point a little later in my game. I said to h*** with this. I will never get this chance again. So I decided to stop and go over and say hello. But by the time I made that decision. He just disappeared like a ghost.

I often regret not making that decision quicker. Just wanted to add that. Not that anyone really cares 8-)

FWIW, I think your initial decision/ ultimately what happened was correct. Kinda sucks you didn’t get to say hello, but nicer overall that you let him enjoy the moment.

Well we did make eye contact for a second so I will always have that.

In my mind I was thinking wow, there goes the greatest coach ever.

And then his mind he was probably thinking, what a scrub. :D

Little thing I just read about the Grizzlies and Marcus Smart. Bummer.

NBA exec on Grizzlies: The Marcus Smart trade killed them

The Grizzlies have tried to take big swings in the trade market at various times in the last three years, including engaging the Phoenix Suns on Kevin Durant this year. However, the biggest one that actually got completed was dealing Tyus Jones and two first-rounders for Marcus Smart when he was just past his sell-by date in the summer of 2023. It’s somewhat ironic given that the Grizzlies have nailed so many small moves in the same period. “The Marcus Smart trade killed them,” as one rival exec put it, costing them draft assets and a $20-million salary slot for a whole lot of not much. On a roster that couldn’t afford a miss once Jackson, Bane and Morant graduated to expensive veteran deals, Smart was nearly dead money. He was neither healthy nor happy in Memphis, and his level of play dropped off even when he was active; the Grizzlies ended up giving Washington another first just to move off the last year of his deal.

I wonder If/when Smart becomes available buyout/FA etc, what market he will have. Trade PP for cap relief and move up in RD 1 and Bring back Marcus at vet Minimum??

Not saying I would do it or Boston would/could. Just a random thought.

I can't see how the lottery results weren't an inside sham job.

I don't feel bad for the tankers one bit, but for the fans who see some sort of daylight because they have a good chance to have their franchise turned around with one bounce? That sucks donkey nutz.

The Luka trade and then the lottery results should result in some major examination.

I've never seen something so blatant in my years watching sports. Half that story happens all the time, but that whole story? NEVER.

Very suspect especially when you consider the Pels got the number 1 (Zion) after trading Davis to LA. Make the trade the league wants and you’ll be rewarded. I will say it has certainly piqued everyone’s attention. I’m glad Flagg ended up in the West.

You know the lottery is fixed because the Knicks kept winning it all those years when they were terrible.

I wouldn't say the NBA is unhappy with how unpopular SGA is,
but they're going to replace him with a Tesla Robot next season...

I think SGA is a likeable enough fella, but man, that MVP pick was terrible.

NBA agenda is certainly showing itself over and over and over and over.

If I'm Caitlin Clark I'd ditch the WNBA and get paid 7 figures in Europe. She can watch how important she was for that backwards league.

Meandering article about the low tips given to Uber Eats or Door Dash drivers in LA.

But there was one happy example of a named celebrity who gave a big tip:

Doc Rivers

Yeah OKC is **** in a couple years.

SGA, Jalen, and Chet will eat like 80% of their cap and they’ll be in the same position as us.

They lucked out wildly on the SGA contract. Similar to Indiana the move seems to be trade for a star and then give them the “mini max”.

Stupid ass CBA.

Old friend Daniel Theis and former Celtic draft pick Juhann Begarin are playing in the Euroleague final if anyone's interested. Tip off is in about 30 minutes.

Return to Boston Celtics
