The word, unconfirmed, is that Hayward to Indy was a done deal if DA was willing to accept a package of Turner & McDermott. It is believed that Hayward wanted to go to Indy but Danny's refusal was holding it up. Under those assumptions, he may have pissed off Hayward, and he also gave other teams more time to consider an offer for Hayward.
Most here think that Turner/McDermott was a reasonable offer and that Danny would have been greedy to hold out for more.
Isn't it just as likely that Hayward was fielding offers trying to get the best deal he could? And the Hornets blew him away. I don't buy this notion that he was willing to leave millions on the table in what will be his last major deal just to go home and play for a mediocre Pacers team.
But you are willing to accept that he took $20 million more to play with a Charlotte team that may not make the playoffs and now be known as the worst contract in the league guy?
I'm willing to accept that he wasn't listening to any calls other than the Pacers until Danny Ainge **** with it. Then he ended up taking the best offer available. If it was this simple he wouldn't have pushed back the deadline and would have signed yesterday.
