His deal is longer but there's also a chance he becomes an asset while JET would be nothing due to age. Crazy deal though..major blockbuster trade. I absolutely hate how we will help Brooklyn get rid of that hideous Wallace contract and be stuck with it for 4 years. What the hell is Ainge thinking on this one? I call Brooklyn winning the east if this goes down. Garnett and Lopez will be tough to handle. Pierce, Johnson and Dwill is straight up SICK.

Not knowing the current trade market, but, I'd much rather send Lee out. Terry has a chance to get a contender interested at the deadline and also be one of the few veteran leaders in the locker-room while he's here. Lee was bitching about touches with Rondo and was fairly unproductive when he had a significant role as ballhandler.

obviously because you're a Celtics fan and Celtics fans generally overrate their own players.

Deron Williams was arguably the BEST PG in the entire league the 2nd half of last season. He was killing teams. He's awesome. He's a freakin Bull, scores, distributes, defends. If he was on Boston the past 5 years the Celtics have 2-3 rings instead of 1

You obviously hate Rondo though and have said as much.

So half of a season? Does the rest of his time in Brooklyn not count? Utah was a long time ago

lets not make this about Rondo. who by the way, I like. I in no way, shape or form hate Rondo. I just hate him as a FRANCHISE player because he's not that.

Luckily we will be throwing him in the deal for a future 2nd

This was already addressed earlier in the thread, you can only amnesty players you signed before the 2011 season.

I'm just reading all this for the first time- I've been working.

Can someone please summarize this rumor for a hapless late arrival? How many picks are involved?

Thank you.

The pics are protected? Or are they assuming they won't be in the lottery? If we get them to take Terry too and manage to get 3 unprotected picks I don't mind this deal at all. Brooklyn could crash within two years. Gimme 2014, 2016, and 2017 picks.

Who the hell is crash. Wallace?

Yeah. He actually used to give Pierce a really hard time when Charlotte was semi-competitive, if I remember correctly. But last year, he put up .397/.282/.637. :o

Lets see how this all pans out before we overreact. Maybe Ainge sends Wallace to a 3rd team. Isiah Thomas still a GM in the NBA?

Guys pierce and Kg are 36 and 37 respectively . Stop expecting for other teams to give us they entire give us they entire good prospects and take on both lee and terry bad contracts. That's not happening. We are collecting assets that's what we are doing. I don't want josh smith here unless Dwight is coming with him.

Lastly petronet has been respectfully here and is engaging in actually basketball debate so I don't get why some people are attacking him.

Basic framework of the deal is that the Celtics would trade Pierce and KG for Humphries' expiring contract, Gerald Wallace (who has a three-year $30 million contract), Tomike Shengelia, and three future first round picks.

Wojo says talks are serious for the Nets to acquire both Pierce and KG. Lee or Terry may also be involved.

Started as KG/Pierce for Hump/Wallace/filler and three first round picks. Also the idea of a pick (not clear if over and above the other three) from MINN this year for M. Brooks coming to the Celtics.

New rumors are that Lee or Terry may be involved, and that Brooklyn's first isn't this year's.

Maybe hopefully Minny takes Wallace also.

Ainge isn't doing that deal as being reported. It's either A. Not happening or B. there's a lot more to it that's not being reported. I'm going with A.

Also, why are people saying Josh Smith in 2 years will be Gerald Wallace? First of all, Gerald Wallace was NEVER the player that Josh Smith currently is. Gerald Wallace is an overrated role player who cannot shoot or dribble. Josh Smith is a 6'9 uber athlete who gets up and down the court, blocks shots, rebounds, passes, scores in transition, etc. He's not a superstar but he's an awesome player.

Smith 6'9, long reach, athletic ability allows up to play bigger.

Gerald Wallace is like 6'6

Agreed. I am confident in the Nets ability to throw up all over themselves once KG and Pierce retire. These picks will most likely be lottery. If BK wants them protected, Danny should tell them to go fly a kite.

Even if they get Wiggins next year you still have Wallace for 2 more years who plays the same freakin position has Wiggins/Parker and a guy we already have in Green. I hate it. Nothing about this deal is good. late first round picks spread out over 5 years? ewww.

The expiring deal of Hump is simply offset by the garbage deal that Wallace has. Brooklyn HANDCUFFED themselves with the Wallace deal and EVERYONE across the league knew it the moment he signed the contract. Now Ainge wants to bail those bums out? DON'T DO IT. I can stand to see PP/KG return to the Garden once for a tribute video and standing ovation. I CANNOT deal with seeing them all season long

Agreed. Saddened that the PP for Asik stuff hasn't developed more - that's the only rumor all summer that's shivered any timber so far..

as i was suggestiong... nets taking on Lee/Terry would make wallace sting less

But the Nets would only be able to take on one. And I'd rather have Lee than Wallace (younger, cheaper, can shoot.)

Dumping Terry would be nice, but ditching 2 years/10 mil doesn't take much of the sting out of 3 years/$30 mil.

An ugly deal.

nets could take both signing and trading bogans to a 1 year 4m deal and including him

How? KG/Pierce/JT/Lee combine to make 38 mil. You need 30+ mil in outgoing salaries to match that.

If they are willing, I think we can actually maximize our return by dealing Pierce and KG to different teams.

This deal is simply horrible. I'm just going to have to have faith that Ainge wouldn't want any part of that Wallace deal in a rebuild. It's pretty much the opposite of what we need and a few late 1sts don't make it worth it.
