I still think Fultz is a better player. A lot of what Jayson does right now is good, but if he is going to get his points in iso, the efficiency is going to have to be there. One of the surest ways to make sure an iso player is efficient is to keep drawing fouls. His free throw rate will determine a lot about his value as a player if he cannot consistently finish in the paint with pressure. He did that nicely last night, but will he be able to do it consistently against solid defenders. I second the tunnel vision thing brought up by others, as at times he seems to have predetermined that the entire possession is going to be his. Maybe all this changes when he gets minutes with the big club.
He DOES look bigger in summer league than I thought he was going to be, and I think he might end up playing the role of a big quite often. Also, his high release bodes nicely for any times we might need a stretch 4, although his shooting mechanics are a bit awkward and not always the same. His arm does this weird float to the side thing on his release. It may not end up hindering him, but it's something to watch for. Overall I think he can become a very good three point shooter, but we may not find out for another season or so.
The other thing to watch for is that when he is drawing fouls and driving, he is really a below the rim player. I don't think it's a good comp, but the way he moves athletically is more reminiscent of Kevin Love to me than anyone else. Love was a miles better passer out of the high post, but Jayson is a much better ball handler I think than Kevin was at a young age (pls correct me if I'm wrong on this, I'm just going from memory).
All this being said, IF Tatum develops well, his size makes him more valuable then a similar impact guard. Time will tell.
