What is the risk? Most of the time these deals are about money or a useless future pick. Ainge just got a top 5 pick next year or an unrestricted Kings pick in '19. I get that because Ainge keeps doing this that Boston fans don't understand how rare these type of assets are but to get this from a lottery dwelling team is ridiculous.

Bottom line Fultz isn't Lebron James or Kevin Durant, what do you do? If you can double down.

If we have top 5 lotto odds for two picks next year and we end up keeping the Lakers pick, Danny is a genius. He's a double genius if they lower the age restriction and the 2018 draft is flooded with people like Zion and Bagley. If it's top 3 in 2019, he's a genius.

If it gets to 2019 and then the Kings are good for some reason and the pick sucks, we lost.

Yup, if this works out we're seriously getting into holy **** Red Auerbach rides again territory.

Amen. We're drowning in riches. If the reported deal is correct there's a great chance we just acquired a guy like Porter, Ayton, Bamba, Doncic, or even Bagley and half the board's like 'shrug'. It's a move with some risk to it, sure, but also amazing potential reward.

They have protections. No protections? Fine. Protections suck and are meant to help only one team, which is the one trading them. I still love how, people fawn over these protected picks. Protected picks blow. It insulates the team that trades them so they have a good shot at keeping them.

Imagine Philly sucking again and getting number one next year? Heck, I bet that's the plan. Suck for one more year and maybe get 1.

Summer of 2017 is the setup move.

2018 is the kill shot.

Although by the time we're done 2017 may look like a kill shot too.

Crowder/Zeller/Smart/Lakers 2018 for Butler.

Bradley and Grizz 2018 for Minny #7.

Draft DSJ.

Sign Hayward.

Sign Olynyk.

IT/DSJ
Butler/Rozier
Hayward/Jaylen
Horford/Yabu
Olynyk/Zizic

Meh. Replace KO with Jokic now we're talkin.

The 2018 draft only needs to be 5 deep with the pick protection. The top 5 right now look like difference makers. Porter/Ayton/Bamba/Doncic/Williams plus whoever emerges

First, with the protections on the pick and probabilities the chance of getting a player as touted as Fultz is almost impossible. we're saying Fultz isn't Lebron, we have no clue if any of these listed prospects are anything special at the moment. Ayton could end up being Frank Kamisky for all we know.

It's June 17.

There is plenty of time to address it. With many different players.

Why is this so hard?

Maybe I wasn't clear since you intend to use me as your outlet.

Jackson can't shoot.

No guarantee Hayward comes here.

Butler for everything that he is isn't a shooter.

After tonight I don't have trust in Ainge. Get over it bruh

-Jackson hasn't been drafted

-Hayward hasn't NOT signed

-Butler might not be the All-Star Ainge is after

LMAO @ THE HATERS

So what does a Butler deal look like, whichever they like least out of Brown/#3 plus Bradley?

I liked the Butler/Griffin/Hayward trio addition at the beginning of this thread but that might break the wallet/Zarren's brain. Even harder than the earlier ones we had cooked up lol.

Interesting one now is trading for Butler and George with no cap room angle.

3rd pick, Grizz 2018, Amir, Crowder, Rozier for Butler and RLopez.

Nets 2018, Lakers 2018, Olynyk, Zeller, Jerebko for George.

IT/Smart
Butler/Bradley
George/Jaylen
Horford/Yabu
RLopez/Zizic

LOOK OUT!

Williams was thought of as a end of the lottery prospect in this draft, now he's going to be worth trading back from one to three?

Because you know on your team he is back up and Jackson might be a starter.

That only matters if you think you can contend. Not seeing it....Celts reasons seems real dumb if it's not winning and overflow of guards.

WTF? I think Boston reasons are they are going to try and add a future star in this draft and one or two All Stars this offseason. Standing pat with Fultz was not going to make that possible.

Ainge wasn't sold on Fultz as a superstar. Wtf would he HAVE to draft him then?

We are sold on his stardom. But, Ainge doesn't see it. I think if no deal, he would take Jackson no. 1

This is an extremely smart move by Ainge. Fultz fits well with you guys but you do have IT and Bradley already. I really dont think there is really difference between any of the top 4-5 guys. So if you can get another 1st round pick to trade down just 2 spots and still stay in the top 5 its a great deal. It gives you a few more picks to add value to a trade or you can just draft Jackson or Tatum who are actually a better fit than Fultz. I think Tatum is your best fit, he goes very well with Brown, but I wont be surprised to see you guys trade this pick as well.

So, this is what I think will happen. We'll sign Hayward to play the 3, draft Tatum to play small ball 4, which I think he'll excel at. He's got very broad shoulders, and he'll really fill out, and the kid is a very good offensive player. With the LAL/Sac pic, we either wait and take it, pretty much guaranteed yet another top 5, or we flip it for Butler or George, and I'm not yet sure whether I'd prefer to trade that pick or ride it out. There are some very good bigs coming out next year. All that, and we still have the BKN 18 in our back pocket. Coming off the ECF, we are sitting pretty. The sky is not falling.

Butlers knee is toast.

We'll keep #3 who will be yet another role player.

Land Hayward or Griffin which would have happened regardless and has nothing to do with this trade.

Way to lump in irrelevant info to cover up trading away an elite prospect for more non star players.

Yeah, all Fultz could do is be a perennial all star for the next decade-plus and help you build a long lasting contender instead of giving it all away for the privilege of getting throttled by the Warriors for he next few years.

Return to Boston Celtics
