I like it. Good pickup. Just the type of guy you get on a 2-way. I actually didn't realize he was still only 22. I thought he was 24 for some reason.

At 22, he still has some upside. It wouldn't shock me if he ends up playing some meaningful mins at some point for us - either this season or the one after that.

Bottom line. The guy knows how to get a bucket. He can score on drives to the basket and he can hit the 3. He's got solid quickness and athleticism, decent handle.

We now have 1 two-way left. I'm assuming the last one will be someone with more size, since JD is is a 6'3" PG and Scrubb is a 6'4" wing.

Scrubb is not 6'4.

I've only seen him listed at 6'5 mostly, one place I saw he was listed at 6'6. So had to check the combine measurements. But I don't think he has a 40 inch vertical because we didn't see anything like that in the SL.

scrubb's got love from me. already seems like a professional scorer type and there is always a place for those kind of guys. needs to improve his 3 ball but his form and release are good, hopefully his SL shooting translates. competes defensively though not a plus on that end. decent size, decent handles. could do worse with our 17th man.

If I remember correctly, someone on this board wanted him drafted by the Celtics in 2020. He is a skilled player. The only thing holding him back is his tunnel vision. I don't know if he can overcome that but if he does, he will be an NBA player for a while.

Not normally the kind of guy I would take a punt on because of how much he needs the ball in his hands to be effective, but he definitely earned the contract.

I think it's harder for ball dominant fringe guys like Scrubb to break out. Coaches just don't want to put the ball in a two-way players hands that often outside of Summer League, especially non-PG's. You might get a short run at some stage but you'd have to have a Linsanity-esque one to have a chance at a more consistent thing when the team is healthy.

but he's a vast upgrade over Sham Sucky and Justin Jackson...

Next step in his development will be his passing and playmaking for others. He reminds me of Gabe Vincent slightly. Although Gabe really became a great playmaker to go with his shooting and mid range game.

He passes the eye test. I'm not going to overanalyze too much beyond that. It'll be tough to judge him much until we see how he adapts to his role(s) in a real life NBA context.

He could be Jordan Crawford Esue for us. He can score, he can handle the ball. Not at Crawfords level of course, few ever will be.

But 80% of Crawford and we have a great asset off the bench.

I was impressed with how Dobbins used him — from the very first SL game, Scrubb was the featured scorer for the second units. Which is a good way to showcase a scorer when you’ve also got at least one PG (JD) that you also want to be ball-dominant.
