38% is probably fine but not ideal.
Giannis is 2020-21, when the Bucks were a superior team, had 41% of his buckets assisted.
2021-22 Steph was 47% baskets assisted
Pierce in 07-08 was 47% assisted
Dirk in 2010-11 was 61% assisted
Even 2000-01 Allen Iverson was 42% of his made baskets assisted
So 38% probably fine, could be better imo.
Even Tatum just two seasons ago, on the 2022-23 team with Smart and Rob, 55% of Tatum’s makes were assisted. So… I just want Tatum to get some easier hoops, lol

38% of his baskets are assisted this year, just seems needlessly low. His efficiency could improve if he got setup in higher percentage spots instead of having to dance so much with the ball to get looks. When you look at the role players JT has clicked with, he’s not really had a good passer (outside of Rob) to play off… so this actually a little bit of a hope with Scheierman versus Hauser or Walsh is how much better a passer Baylor is… if he turns out to actually be an NBA player, that he can develop into a more Joe Ingles type of wing, that can get JT a couple of easier, assisted hoops.
38% is fine considering his role. Most guys with his type of usage are even lower which makes sense because the best player is tasked with creating easy shots for everybody else, not the other way around (the goal is to optimize the team's efficiency not Tatum's). SGA, Maxey, Murray, Lillard, Harden, Simons, Brunson, Cunningham, DeRozan, Fox, Ball, Doncic, Young, Mitchell and Antetokounmpo all rank worse than him by that metric.
