Depends if you know the history of Moose or not. The other thing is just a direct quote from a former Celtics fan who made a thread on the Raptors board begging to be accepted as a fan of their team the minute he saw them make the Finals.

Thanks for making the thread I was just about to.

I think he wants to be here, but I also think there aren't that many teams looking to pay him the max. Lakers reportedly only will offer that to Kawhi and Kyrie. Clippers reportedly have other guys on their radar. Nets are targetting Kyrie. Knicks reportedly aren't targetting him. 76ers are targeting their own guys and if they fail, they don't really want a ball dominant PG when Simmons is their ball handler. Kings have Fox. Mavericks have Luka handling PG duties. Everyone else doesn't have max room. As soon as Charlotte decided not to pay him, we became his best option by default if he wanted to get paid.

I think that sums it up. He wants to live in a state with *** weather when he's playing here. He must really believe in Stevens and Ainge.

As for your other concerns, any of the CA or NY franchises would go after Kemba as a plan B. the Lakers would love to add him to a LeBron, AD core if they strike out so I don't think he's lacking for suitors.

And even if he didn't get an offer from a super team being formed, if I were him I'd sign with DAL instead where you have a way better all-star level talent already in Doncic, and a potential second young all-star in PorzinGod to work with. There's endless better situations for Kemba both on and off the court than this Celtics team.

So I have to believe... he just wants to be here. He wants to play in NE, he wants to play for Stevens.

Case in point for all the stupid Stevens detractors out there and blaming him for Irving destroying our team last year. The players know the real, same reason Horford doesn't like Irving, and they still view Stevens as an elite coach and someone to go out of your way to play for.

As someone who loves the Hinkie approach, this is only too soon if you think this is us trying to win a ring next season.

If you just look at it as an asset acquisition in the middle of a rebuild then it's a great move.

Make no mistake, a Rozier/Smart/Brown/Hayward/Tatum under Brad Stevens team was making the playoffs regardless next year in the East. All it takes is being a .500 team.

So this is essentially trading Rozier for Kemba Walker. Who we can trade in a couple of seasons for a lottery pick but I'm sure Ainge will try to enact a much higher price depending on how the winds blow.

All their cap space into one player. This guy better be the real deal. 35 million dollars per year?

They're fine. NBA teams are designed for three max players, and Hayward rolls off when Tatum comes up for his next contract. And if Brown really lights it up this year, their next two max players could be junior maxes, if you will.

Happy for this reason: It's become apparent that this locker room needed a disinfectant. Consider Kemba your all star Lysol!!' I welcome the opportunity to extinguish the fungus among us.

Yeah I know the history behind Moose (Raptor fan who converted to us this year; did he also run back to them during the Finals?), but truth18 turning to them is something else entirely.

Never thought I'd ever see the day, for shame :nonono:

Yeah - I think he likes Tatum as an all-star this coming year and he hopes Hayward and Brown will be near that level as well.
That's what I think. Please excuse the awful grammar there, talk-to-text doesn't quite work perfectly lol

Welcome Kemba, I think this is the best move going forward. Just need a decent big and we are a slim chance to win.

Also see the back of Irving.

That said, withdrawing my earlier age objections after seeing Lou Williams put up 27 per 36 at 32 years of age.

My thoughts too, I think we're gonna see another offence built on a star PG taking all the shots, likely to the detriment of Tatum and Brown's development

Kemba's secret skill..top 5 in drawing offensive charges

Post#54 » by celticfan42487 » Sat Jun 29, 2019 11:45 pm

Now let's not get this twisted, Kemba Walker isn't a star defensively. He's a small, below the rim type player, and exploitable on that end of the court.

But he **** tries his best on the defensive end. He'll fight through screens... and despite being an iron man the past number of years... he also routinely is among the best in the league at drawing charges. If he was on our team last year he, along with Baynes, would BY FAR lead our team in charges drawn.

In the NBA there's Lowry and there is Walker and there are no other PGs that sacrifice their body on defense for the team like them.

https://stats.nba.com/players/hustle/?sort=CHARGES_DRAWN&dir=1&PerMode=Totals&Season=2018-19&SeasonType=Regular%20Season

It's shocking for someone who has never got past the first round, was on roughly a .500 win team as the do it yourself offensive shot taker, to still finished in the top 5 in charges drawn.

Marcus Smart, we may have lost Horford and Baynes... but we still got you someone who just matched your intensity on defense.

Oh yeah, and our transition defense just got taken up a notch...

The other benefit of Kemba signing here is I never need to see Terry Rozier in a Celtics uniform again.

The Charlotte board is understandably upset. They are calling for tampering and are expecting our firsts.
