Thanks for making the thread I was just about to.
I think he wants to be here, but I also think there aren't that many teams looking to pay him the max. Lakers reportedly only will offer that to Kawhi and Kyrie. Clippers reportedly have other guys on their radar. Nets are targetting Kyrie. Knicks reportedly aren't targetting him. 76ers are targeting their own guys and if they fail, they don't really want a ball dominant PG when Simmons is their ball handler. Kings have Fox. Mavericks have Luka handling PG duties. Everyone else doesn't have max room. As soon as Charlotte decided not to pay him, we became his best option by default if he wanted to get paid.
I think that sums it up. He wants to live in a state with *** weather when he's playing here. He must really believe in Stevens and Ainge.
As for your other concerns, any of the CA or NY franchises would go after Kemba as a plan B. the Lakers would love to add him to a LeBron, AD core if they strike out so I don't think he's lacking for suitors.
And even if he didn't get an offer from a super team being formed, if I were him I'd sign with DAL instead where you have a way better all-star level talent already in Doncic, and a potential second young all-star in PorzinGod to work with. There's endless better situations for Kemba both on and off the court than this Celtics team.
So I have to believe... he just wants to be here. He wants to play in NE, he wants to play for Stevens.
Case in point for all the stupid Stevens detractors out there and blaming him for Irving destroying our team last year. The players know the real, same reason Horford doesn't like Irving, and they still view Stevens as an elite coach and someone to go out of your way to play for.
