Doubt it, but one can dream

IMO that Gallinari contract could be real useful in an offseason trade as it can be waived by 6/22/22 and only cost 5 million dollars.
So unless I am mistaken, you can trade him prior June 22 (along with 5 million in cash) and you have just completely free salary cap space for whatever team is getting him.
For example
Beal wants to come to boston and we facilitate a sign and trade.
Gallo
5 million in cash
Richardson (exp)
Nesmith
would allow Beal to resign at 33 million and the "on the books salary" for washington to only be about 13 million after dropping Gallo.

They made that illegal now. you have to fully guarantee the 21M to use it as a matching salary.

Right now, looks like we should've taken Cole Anthony and Bane (no Pritchard).
Iirc Nesmith was considered the best shooter in the draft and has good size, so can't criticize Ainge too much on Nesmith at 14. No idea why they took PP at 26 though. Terrible pick.

Simmons, Horford, Schroder to Sacramento
Fox, Bagley to Boston?
Fox/Pritch
Smart/Richardson
Brown/Nesmith
Tatum/Grant
Timelord/Bagley

Nesmith opened his season as the best shooter in the draft, but he got hurt early and didn't sustain it for a full year. Was coming off an injury when we picked him. Possible he would've gone higher if he'd stayed healthy, also possible he would've come back down to earth from long range.
Nesmith wasn't a *bad* pick, but Ainge always liked to take guys in the middle of the draft whose value was deflated from a disappointing year - Romeo, Avery Bradley, he was even rumored to like Shabazz Muhammad years ago, who started as a consensus no. 1 pick. Cole Anthony did that, too.
Pritchard was a good pick, a find, and great value for his draft position. He's just not as good as Cole or Bane.
Andrew McCeltic wrote:Sure, but Pritchard is a good undersized guard, and it's hard even to get one of those late in the first round.

It's like these people don't even watch games or maybe just highlights? I dunno. It's crazy. Why do people like this devote time on forums devoted to something they know so little about? And broadcast it proudly to others. Seems strange. I'm convinced they're trolling. There's no other explanation. I really hope he and Nesmith get traded away from this dumpster fire team and fanbase.

Even if he’s out of the league when his contract is up, a guy who can be a rotation player on a .500 or better team is a good pick in the 20s. And no one had Bane on their radar, 29 teams passed on him.
