But like I said, this isn’t an effort issue. They are actually lost as a team. Ran into their polar opposites and just don’t know how to respond. That’s why it appears they’ve quit.
I agree with this. They are playing a team that has planned to exploit all their weaknesses and they're doing a great job of executing their gameplan. Our guys are getting no help from the coaching staff to fight back against it and I'm not sure if there is even a way to do so in such a short period after investing the whole year in a 3pt centric offense
That’s because our coach lets the players do what ever they want out there. No accountability. However awful some players do, our coach still sticks with them no matter what. Spo will play whoever will help them win. No ego’s to baby sit and protect.
This isn’t about that. Spo has shut down our main weapons on offense. And Joe really has no counter. Think of it as Joe having maybe five things he can go to on offense, Spo has all covered, and our coaching staff has no more answers. So it wouldn’t surprise me if the players are taking it upon themselves to make plays on their own. Smart suddenly calling for postups, Jays chucking early clock threes or driving into traffic. The Heat defense has the entire team flummoxed.
To me, this isn’t about “lack of heart” though I don’t fault anyone who saw it as our guys quitting. It’s “lack of a brain.” They’re just out of answers.
EDIT: It doesn’t help that the Heat are hitting everything they throw up. So many demoralizing shots.
