There is too much marketing capital tied up in the two stars. We're most likely stuck with Tatum and Brown while we watch Stevens shuffle the deck chairs around them, like most of the people in this thread are doing.
I am one of the biggest Presti defenders because I think he's a great guy and a terrific basketball mind....with that said, he's also a little overrated...what has he done that is so amazing beyond his early draft picks? He drafted Durant (obvious selection at #2...wonder if he takes him at #1?), Westbrook, Ibaka and Harden. All slam dunks. He looked like a genius when they were in the finals at such a young age.....the Harden trade was inexcusable though....he made the trade too early (should have waited until in-season), and many of us even back then thought he was crazy for trading Harden before he peaked VS trading Westbrook. So that was a colossal mishandling of what was a great situation he created......Since then no names really stand out. he's drafted some good players and Giddey looks legit, but his overall draft history after his initial success is rather pedestrian.
I would love to see Presti in a big market situation with an ownership group that has his back. I thought Boston would have been it as I think Presti/Stevens would be a magical Executive/Coach combination.....I guess it's still possible? If Ime keeps struggling, have Stevens get back to the bench and hire Presti? Who knows......a man can dream. My dream scenario is Stevens goes back to the bench, Presti is hired as President of Bball Ops, then he hires Landry Fields as GM.
