No raising his number etc
Why? I wouldn't raise his number anyway unless he became a HOF.

Even if he becomes a hall of famer, he becomes a Rondo or a Ray Allen in Celtics history if he does that. A champion, but not somebody we care for anymore.
Al would need to remain in Boston for a couple more years to solidify his spot among Celtics greats. If he leaves this summer, he's very much locked into the Marcus Smart, Rondo, Ray Allen tier. That's not a knock on him. He's been a great Celtic. A leader, mentor, on-court contributor offensively & defensively. Nothing negative to say about the guy. But he's always been a role player. A really good one at that.
If he stays, and ultimately retires a Celtic, then his number could go up into the rafters. Hopefully, he's aware of all of this and is still mulling over his decision.
Is it worth going to Golden State for a couple more million dollars? The dude has made so much money in his career. Plus, Golden State is a play-in team. Look at the west! OKC, Houston, Denver, Minny, LAC, LAL all better than GS. There comes a time when you need to make the right choice for your legacy. Plus, the Celtics really need him this year.
I'd sign Al to a 2-year deal. 2nd year a FULL player option. No trade clause too. If Al stays the Celtics can win 50-games.

Solid group. Not even accounting for Simmons or other moves Brad can still make.
