Never. Al to lakers does nothing to his feelings in Boston. I don't think he wants to play in 2 years. It is either someone else for one last run or he retires.

Nah. I said what I said and I mean it. It goes for any former Celtic. I guess I’m old-school that way.

I’m actually with this. I had a problem with Horford going to Philadelphia when he first left, I got a problem with him deciding between LA and GS. GS beat your ass for a title, we hate them and you want to run there? Like go to the Nuggets, Rockets or retire. I love the guy but get a clue dude.

NBA players just don't think like that. That might be how fans think (especially younger fans) but for the most part, players don't think that way.

If a player is a FA, they're more so factoring in:

-The offer (length of contract, how much $, etc.)
-How much playing time they'll get..how big of a role
-Odds of the team they're joining being a title contender

It's mainly just that stuff..but also maybe whether they have friends on the team, any pre-existing relationship they have with the team's coaches, management, owners, etc. team culture, what the weather is like in that city, etc.

Whether that team beat his team in the playoffs 3 years ago is pretty far down on the list. If anything, that might make the player more likely to sign there, since that might mean the team checks off the title contender box..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I don't know that with 100% certainty. It's my opinion, from following the league for 30 or so years..

Oh, OK.
I was gonna say, cause KG didn´t seem to think like that?
I mean, he didn't talk to Ray Allen for 13-14 years. Right?

Why? I wouldn't raise his number anyway unless he became a HOF.

Not many have that level of personality.

I think the Lebron/Heat thing just hit different too. The Warriors are not the same as going to war against Lebron over and over and then going to join them. We played the Heat in 11 and 12. We played Lebron in 08,10,11,12. That was a real rivalry.

I would be disappointed if he went to the Lakers. Warriors doesn't really bother me at all. We lost to them 3 years ago. It sucked, but they were never really our rival (in my opinion). Maybe I'm just getting older. I'm more bitter about losing to the 23 Heat or the Knicks more than I am that finals.

Even if he becomes a hall of famer, he becomes a Rondo or a Ray Allen in Celtics history if he does that. A champion, but not somebody we care for anymore.

People are acting like Al didn't leave Atlanta to come here after multiple contentious playoff series.

His place in Boston is cemented regardless, he was a key contributor to a title team and was a key cog to our lengthiest run of success since the 80's.

Whether it's Brockton or Brookline Rondo will get love forever here.

And Al is a lock for the HOF.

Al would need to remain in Boston for a couple more years to solidify his spot among Celtics greats. If he leaves this summer, he's very much locked into the Marcus Smart, Rondo, Ray Allen tier. That's not a knock on him. He's been a great Celtic. A leader, mentor, on-court contributor offensively & defensively. Nothing negative to say about the guy. But he's always been a role player. A really good one at that.
If he stays, and ultimately retires a Celtic, then his number could go up into the rafters. Hopefully, he's aware of all of this and is still mulling over his decision.
Is it worth going to Golden State for a couple more million dollars? The dude has made so much money in his career. Plus, Golden State is a play-in team. Look at the west! OKC, Houston, Denver, Minny, LAC, LAL all better than GS. There comes a time when you need to make the right choice for your legacy. Plus, the Celtics really need him this year.

I'd sign Al to a 2-year deal. 2nd year a FULL player option. No trade clause too. If Al stays the Celtics can win 50-games.

White/Simons/Brown/Hauser/Al
PP/Minnot/Niang/Garza/Queta
Hugo/Baylor/Walsh/Williams

Solid group. Not even accounting for Simmons or other moves Brad can still make.

As I stated in another Thread. = We have yet to hear from the Horford camp.

So, when it's all said and done, I believe that Al will re-sign with the Celtics.
And, I think that Horford will express surprise, that the media even hinted otherwise.

Celtic players who had their numbers retired with fewer than two championships:

Paul Pierce
Kevin Garnett
Ed McCauley
Reggie Lewis

I believe that's the entire list.

I disagree with this. He's still good and keeps himself in tip top shape. He does have a big family, so if he'd rather be a stay-at-home dad, I'd respect that decision, but from a pure basketball standpoint he's still good enough to sign another multi-year deal.

Like I said in my previous post. 2-year deal. 2nd year a full player option. No trade clause. He starts at Center this season. Plays 25-30mpg. No back-to-backs. Leave him home if you're heading out for 3 days to play the Wizards & Hornets. He's a leader & a mentor. Keep him around. Just because the Celtics are a long shot to win the title this season, shouldn't mean they need to part ways with Horford.

Agreed. Horford is still in competition shape. -- I say again, I'll bet that he' s not even paying attention to the news.
He'll make the best decision for him, his family, and the team, when he's ready.

Rumor on T&T board is that he has an agreement with GSW already. They just need to resolve the Kuminga thing first in order to make it happen in the best financial way for their situation. De'Anthony Melton and GPII are in the same boat as well.

can the Kuminga thing drag on until, say, March, so we can see if Tatum comes back and it's worth re-signing Al?
