Brown is the type where he needs to be fed the ball in his spots since he isn't a great creator. I think as the passing on the team improves he will improve. He is trying to force the issue right now

Just curious as to how it will improve with the lack of playmakers?

Where is it? I certainly haven't seen it this year.

You haven't seen the talent that tatum has? kyrie? brown? horford? Terry? Hayward? Etc? You are confusing talent with playing good. You can be very talented and play like s*** on any given night. I give you, exhibit A.

Everyone in the NBA has talent.

Rozier is a career 38% shooter. Not sure why everyone thinks he's a starter in this league. Brown is an athlete but not an NBA basketball player (yet). He doesn't fit in with this team at all right now.

Kyrie and Hayward are recovering from significant injuries, Tatum is 20 years old.

First you say you haven't seen the talent. Then you say everyone in the NBA has talent. Obviously everyone in the NBA has talent but obviously certain players are far more talented than others. Which........I mean, I can't believe I needed to even say that. I don't see what coming off of injuries has to with with the talent the players have. It could explain why they are rusty to start the year but that's it. Don't even feel the need to touch on the tatum comment.

It's still early. If this team doesn't work out it won't be because of the lack of talent but because of chemistry or injuries. Most had us being clear east favorites and even giving us a real shot at GS. And now we don't have talent? Stop it.

Yup. I was told preseason meant ZERO. The way they played meant absolutely nothing. ZERO. It was really strongly said after the Philly game. I think people felt if they said zero enough times and clicked their heels together three times they would end up in Kansas, rather than acknowledge the obvious. The team will get it together. We all know they will. But the woes of the preseason are still there.

I just think this team plays much better on defense when Horford is paired with a legit big man like Baynes or Theis. Horford shot the ball horribly as did Tatum, so I’m not sure we had the firepower tonight but we did ourselves no favors in times where we needed clutch stops with small ball. It just didn’t work.

Well, it’s early but still somewhat disappointing. I hope this team doesn’t underachieve with all the talent we have. You just can’t lose to a team like Magic.

Idk what to say. Pre season was a disaster and now regular season is a disaster so far. They better turn this around fast.

Team is just playing tight right now. Expectations seem to be in their heads a bit too much. Guys need to just relax and let their talent take over.

First off, Brown can create.

Second off, Kyrie is a good distributor - he's just a better scorer - and Hayward and Horford are terrific playmakers. Celtics don't lack playmakers. What they do is lack shooting early in the season.

Irving, Brown, Tatum, Hayward and Horford are all plus 38% 3-point shooters. I don't think we are going to see 9-40 for much longer. Boston's shooting and shotmaking has been terrible, which means their preseason schedule sucked. They aren't ready out of the gate for whatever reason.

No one cares about the preseason. The preseason is worthless, which is why the NBA cut it in half. Players don't take the exhibition games seriously and don't want to play in those games. The first 10 games of the nba schedule are the preseason.

Let's see where the Celtics are christmas day. That's when you want to see what your team is. I can't get fired up in October. Hell, the NBA starts to early anyway. It sued to be Halloween was opening night.

Don't think that's the case. We had 21 assists last night, with a ton of wide open shots missed. Horford alone missed 3 or 4 that I can remember, Tatum missed 2 in the same play in the second half. Those are the ones I remember the most, but there were a lot more. We could've easily had 30 assists last night, at least.

I felt like at times we ended up with some sloppy plays because we were trying to pass the ball a bit too much, when guys had the chance to either shoot or drive to the basket.

Glad to finally have a working account here. Been lurking awhile.
I think the biggest problem with this team so far is simply the poor FG shooting. We're getting open shots but they aren't falling. It's concerning to see it 4 games in a row now, but I think that will work itself out. It's not that unusual with a team that shoots such a high number of 3's, you live and die by them. Even a paltry 30% would have won this game.
It's a long season so going 5-5 or similar to start is not a problem. It's going to come down to who is hot and has few injuries going into the post season and we have plenty of time to worry about that.
All that said, damn was that game frustrating to watch. Didn't expect to be face palming and yelling at the TV for an Orlando home game. Would be nice to avoid losses against clearly inferior teams, esp at home.

Just heard Eddie House talking about Umbunto and how important it was. Shame on the players if they take it non chalantly and don’t care. But I don’t think it is the case. You have the best of the best taking their craft seriously.
As a fan, you have the right not to care. You’re paying good money to not have to care. That’s different. But really, speaking for myself, I’m not questioning that Stevens and team worked hard after the preseason and will continue working hard to right the ship. You can read my comments after preseason - me and others had concerns about things that I had hoped Stevens could fix by Game 1.
What does it mean? I have no doubt that they will have things in good order by Christmas. My concern is that it might take 60 +wins to get the #1 seed and starting something like 9-6 could have us chasing Toronto early.
It’s just some people project this condescending tone like they really understand basketball better - like they’re Aaron Rogers saying “relax” . Preseason showed us they clearly weren’t ready to start the season that’s all. It doesn’t mean they won’t win a championship.

Overpassing, underpassing, open shots--but all too much at the perimeter. They need guys who can and will take it to the cup and then either score or dish out. That's what gets the best shots.
