I wouldn't sneeze at Wilson Chandler. That dude always kills us.

He does special things when he isn't asked to do too much.
What gets Smart in trouble is when he's needed to run the team for large stretches, or when he feels like he needs to shoot the ball every time he's open.
He can actually be quite effective offensively when they post him up, or if they run p&rs with Smart and a rim runner.

He's drives me nuts sometimes, but I'm fairly confident his mere presence injects confidence in his teammates. Marcus is a pitbull and definitely a guy you want in your foxhole.

If someone like a Semi was wired to play in a more manic fashion, like Smart, it would be easier to let Marcus go. But no one on the team consistently makes more desperation plays. Perhaps a bit too much is made of these types of "winning" plays, but they do have a positive effect beyond the play itself.

Exactly.

For all his flaws, Marcus is still a dude. He is an incredible athlete in many ways just not always purely basketball ways ( ie. First step, explosive jump). I have played against guys who suck at basketball but outclass me physically and it is an awful feeling. Marcus makes NBA players feel that way and by fourth quarter it sucks the life out of some guys. At the right price he is an enormous asset but he has to be a role player and paid like one.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I have a sneaking suspicion that with a healthy team, putting Irving, Brown, Hayward and Tatum all solidly ahead of him in usage, a lot of folks are going to warm to him this year.

Even more so if we lock him down for several years, and he no longer feels like he needs to try to establish his offense in order to secure a bigger payday.

I'm not Smart's #1 fan. But, this could be a good year for him, if things go a certain way.

Have the Kings gotten anyone?

All we heard was their pick wouldnt be great because of all their cap room to get middling free agents but it seems like theyve been very quiet

 I was hoping the Wizards would **** up and offer up Beal or Porter for Cousins in a sign-and-trade. Signing Green and Howard while trading Gortat for Rivers will suffice.

Man I still feel really bad for him. There's no way he's going to get more than MLE money even for a scrub team like the Magic

He may just be one of those vet min guys for the rest of his career unless he can reclaim himself in Orlando

Marcus Smart is an underrated shooter

Wilson Chandler is a decent pick up for Philly. So is Green for Wizards

To play against Boston you need wings for days. Philly replacing Chandler for Belinelli is an upgrade vs us

Once Smart is signed, I believe that eliminates him from getting traded to San Antonio till December or something, right?

Return to Boston Celtics
