Kyrie Irving is the NBA version of Chance the gardener (a man with limited intellect who somehow passes as a highly educated one).

Oh, this doesn't look familiar at all....

LMAO. If he stays healthy all year that entire team will hate his guts by April.

he is tight with harris. they played together in cleveland and worked together with their charities.

i dont know if prince and kyrie had any prior connection. i know Kennard and Kyrie are tight and Kennard and prince share an agent Dave Spahn). so not sure if they crossed paths that way.

Kyrie is one of my fave players, but man, that guy held the team hostage with his mood swings. Maybe playing with KD and D.Jordan would help or maybe he’s learned something from last season. I hope everything works out fine for him. I think he’s one of the best pg’s in the league skill wise, but he truly failed as a leader.

I was specifically referring to those comments not just being lip service. Kyrie and Harris have be close for a while with overlapping off court relationships and ventures.

as far as being a leader, he wont be asked to be one in Brooklyn.

What part exactly am I trolling about?

Nobody asked Kyrie to be a leader in Boston, also nobody WANTED him to be a leader, he just elected himself and messed up... So it doesn’t matter if you ask him or not, you should know that... I hope all goes fine for him and KD because is their last chance to show they aren’t overly talented headcases.

Can't believe I'm posting in this thread, and that Kyrie still merits his own thread vs. being rolled into the "Around the NBA" thread.

That said, you could have made the same statement called out above about Boston prior to last year.

Either Kyrie learned something from his experience in Boston and will be humble, coachable and authentic in engaging with teammates or he will act the way he did last year -- arrogant, uncoachable and phony.

At this point I don't care either way and am glad to welcome Kemba in his place. The conclusion that Boston collectively came to is that for all his talent, Kyrie isn't worth the headache. Cleveland seemed to land there as well. Next up: Brooklyn.

"The Kyrie I thought he was is not him," Smart says. "The tension, selfishness and things like that, about having his own team ... that's not him."

None of the old descriptions feel valid anymore. Whereas young Kyrie was branded moody and disengaged, Boston Kyrie is called upbeat and generous, an indefatigable cheerleader for his teammates.

Jaylen Brown calls Irving "a great teacher." Tatum admires him as "an intellectual individual." Horford lauds him as "down-to-earth." Rozier calls him "very genuine" and "a funny guy."

On the eve of the 2018 playoffs, Kyrie Irving invited Terry Rozier to raid his shoe closet.

Sidelined by knee surgery, Irving was channeling all his energy into preparing Rozier, his understudy, for the postseason. As it happens, their feet are the same size. So part of that preparation began in the closet, which was filled with every version of Irving's signature shoe, from the Kyrie 1 through the Kyrie 4, dozens of them, in every colorway.

"That was special," Rozier says. "He didn't even go in there with me. He was like, 'Yo, take as many pairs of shoes as you need.'"

Rozier grabbed 10 pairs, enough to carry him through three playoff rounds, all the way through Game 7 of the conference finals, in which the Celtics—sans Irving and Hayward—fell to LeBron's Cavaliers.

With Irving providing both moral support and arch support, Rozier went on the greatest tear of his young career, averaging 16.5 points, 5.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds over 19 games.

"It's all genuine at the end," Rozier says. "I know he cares for me, and I care for him."

The 6'7" Brown wears a slightly larger shoe but says Irving has been just as generous with his basketball insights, sharing tips on footwork, ball-handling, shooting and how to operate in the screen-and-roll.

"A lot of times, people that have acquired so much status or so much respect or experience throughout the game, or throughout any walk of life, they don't want to share it," Brown says. "Kyrie's the complete opposite. He's completely willing and open to sharing any information that he's learned along his way."

For Smart, the clearest vision of Irving came in September, after Smart's mother, Camellia, died of cancer. Irving, whose mother, Elizabeth, died when he was a child, sent Smart a paragraph-long text message offering his sympathy and open-ended support.

"He actually cares for people," Smart says. "He sits, he talks, he cares about you, wants to know how you're doing, what's going on in your life. ... It shows a lot about his character."

Pro sport is bloody bizarre, not as much as the fans but quite a lot.

A paragraph long text, what a guy, move over Mother Teresa.

And what are you doing exactly? Are you using an AK47 to let him understand that? He messed up the most important franchise in all pro sport and didn't ear anybody, how your scrappy organization with no history or success is going to rule over KI will? It all depends from him, you have no word in anything, he decided to come there because is his home, he decided to bring KD because he needed a friend to help him since your stupid GM would have neever been able to sign him all alone, your franchise is in HIS hands, all the other components count nothing... Just pray man and hope he will be good to you...

There is no need for him to be humble on the Nets they will embrace him because thats what they do for all players. there is no "headache" Nets are about people, winning and on court comes after people, community, and culture. there is no one who isnt coachable if you have this approach. it is what marks has breached at every season ticket holders meeting and we have seen it here already.

Whatever jyrie is, they will embrace. the players will embrace him. they already have.

thats not how it works. he can be whatever he wants. if he wants to lead great. if not great. they embrace players and their needs and their flaws and their difficulties. the nets are the most successful franchise in the NBA when it comes to culture. its not just about winning, at least for marks and the nets. they made a radical change after the billy king era. the nets staff is 3 times the size of the next largest franchise, simply to accomodate players, their families, and their charities.

our franchise isnt in kyries hands or any players hands.

The New Jersey Nets are the most successful franchise culture wise? Who has deemed them that and what evidence is there to back that up?

every player in the league who has come through or associated with it. agents as well. all things equal agents and players will choose the nets. weve seen it every year since marks took over

Can we move on from this bum. He didn't deserve to wear Green, an embarrassing playoff showing and he quit on this team. When's the last time you saw a"leader" / allstar quit in the NBA playoffs. Enough with this dude, we are stacked with stud guards, time to move on. It's Walker time!
