I honestly think we will replace Powe with Hibbert
I think he is going to be traded this off-season along with our #30 pick for a pick in the #13-17 range (+fillers, if necessary), in order to get Roy Hibbert.
Powe plays hard and really thrives as of late, but you can really find more of that kind. You won't find a 7'2", 280 lbs center who has spent all 4 years in college too often. Within 2 years at most, we will have a center who is better than Perk is now.
Additionally, Danny and Doc want players who can contribute right away, and unless we find a trade for a veteran, I think this is the right solution. He would be able to play 15 backup minutes right away.
Powe and Davis together is just too small, and always searching for a veteran C to sign in the off-season also isn't right. You can always find veteran (or quality) role players at the 2 and 3, so there is really no need to draft one of those.
I also think we are showcasing Powe right now, and by now, everybody should know that he is a good backup 4. Coincidentally, we cash in on Powe's contributions. So why not play him on a championship team and raise his value by a lot?
I think we can't let that chance slip. We must get Hibbert. I'm pretty sure we can take the best out of him with our current characters and Clifford Ray as big man coach.

We might as well go with Thabeet, but we wouldn't have to trade up so far. We would also get something in return with him.
And Hibbert had a good game against Oden in the 2007 Final Four and was really able to compete with him. So if everybody says Oden is going to be a beast next season, I feel really good about Hibbert.
If we want overall game, we trade for Hibbert. If we want strictly defense, we trade for Thabeet.

I think DA has demonstrated the expression should be you can't coach reach. Powe's reach is 9' 2". He's not short by any account for a back up center or for a starting PF.
That said, I have no problem packaging him with our pick to move up. DA has been doing this since he has gotten here. This is the way we leverage his eye for talent. I also think center is the position that needs addressing over the long term.

There have been plenty of big guys that have the same story as Hibbert. Problem is, we forget those guys, because they cannot play at a high level. Names like Sean Rooks (who maybe started out good but faded quickly), Stanley Roberts, Eric Montross, Todd MacCulloch, Adonal Foyle (who was a beast in college), Ervin Johnson...I could go on.
It's true that height can't be taught. Well, it's not possible to teach talent either. And I'll take talented players over tall players every day.

Who said Hibbert isn't talented? He said a very soft touch around the hoop and is literally unblockable. He will get his shot in the NBA, as well. And he's shooting at a very high percentage. He's got the post-up moves as well, and a high basketball IQ. Besides hustle and strength, I really don't know what else is mentionable about Powe.

Talent is more than height and weight. If fact, he has gotten worse since he last year. He would have been a lotto pick and now, he will be in the 20s and a bust. He has no heart for the game, which means he'll get killed in the NBA. If he has all those things you claim, why did he have such a awful year? And for Powe, hustle and strength are his greatest assets for this team, but he was a 20/10 guy in college, triple of Hibbert. He can score, certainly has soft hands around the hoop and given the chance, can shoot the 10-15 foot jumper. Also, he can defend quite well.

Who cares if someone is 7 feet. You need a player who can play not just someone who is tall.
Hibbert is slow and I don`t know about his motivation. Thabeet looks like he doesn`t care about basketball. I have seen him a bit and wasn`t impressed.
With Leon I know he will give everything he has every single night! He is a perfect role player, on and off the court. A guy every coach and team needs. All I hear on this board is how he can easily be replaced. Maybe his production on the court but there is a lot more to a player than just that.
And I can`t believe how someone who watches this team can say Leon is only hustle and strength. I think we have all seen in the last few months that he is a very good defensive player, he has a great wingspan and that he is good finisher offensively. He even started to hit that mid range jumper on occasion.
We need to keep Leon on this team not get rid off him.

After all, seconds after getting Davis last June he was reportedly packaged with Brian Scalabrine and being shopped.
I agree that out of the two, Davis is the one who would and should be offered in trades.
But where did you here that he and Scal were being shoped in June?

I don't see that at all. If anything I could see them trading big baby even though I love him. Powe has clearly won the back up PF spot which leaves Baby as the 3rd PF or backup center. HIbbert to me is too slow. we are already an aging team with a slow center in perkins. why would you want to add a stiff like hibbert? I would rather see us get bigger and faster as opposed to bigger and slower

I agree with this. Unless Powe explodes in the playoffs and his trade value becomes worth a top ten pick or something like that (meaning we could steal someonel like Deandre Jordan), then you just don't mess with something that works. He's been great off the bench, brings so much energy, and seems to be the only one off the bench now that forces it inside for when our shot isn't falling..
Just sign O'Bryant, he's got a lot of potential still and if he doesn't pan out, then oh well, we didn't really give anything up for him besides a roster spot and a bit of money. Hibbert worries me, because he seems pretty likely to bust, and the limited potential as probably a serviceable starting center isn't really worth taking that risk.
