This is probably why Ray Ray has been struggling...
I won't say I'm an INSIDER or anything like that but I do know people that are NOT close to Ray's family in CT but they are telling me there was/were some death threats going against some of his closest family members.
Jim Rome is Burning reported that Ray Allen's family is and has been dealing with some dissasterous family issue's. He wont use it as an excuse and he wont talk about it publically. Greg Anthony who did the report didn't even get into what the issues were but just said it is some serious stuff involving his mother and step father, an attempted murder of his step dad and them being in the witness protection program or something of that sort. This could have alot to do with his struggles. Family is more important then basketball.
Then another reports are coming in saying his father was threatened by Colombian drug dealers saying they will spray their house with uzi's and kill all of them.
Something is going on. You can tell on that poor guys face.

Then it's too bad he chose to publicly blame Rondo--and imply that Sam would do better by him:

So he worked yesterday on establishing that rhythm, but made it clear he was not going to do it by himself.
"As easy as it'd be for me to get the ball and carve out some space and get a shot up, that's not what we want on offense as a team," he said. "So I rely on my teammates."
Rajon Rondo, in particular.
"With Rajon, he's the point guard and I think he has to become more aware of just getting me more easier looks," said Allen. "The whole team does."

I think they took it out of context to be honest. Maybe with everything going on he's starting to give in a bit. He has a lot of crap going on in his life it sucks he has to deal w/ the media on top of that.
He'll get out of it i'm sure...That murder for hire trial is over now so hopefully him and his family can move on. His mom and Step father started coming to the games so that is a good sign.

I agree its impossible to get stuff going if the ball isnt moving. The guy averaged 26 last year 2nd in the NBA in scoring...so i'm pretty sure Ray isnt the problem its fitting into the system thats the problem.
Also, everytime the Celtics had multiple days off during the season Ray would always have his best games. He needs rest for those ankles its evident in his jumper when they play back-to-backs,etc.
We arent getting any 2-3 day breaks anymore so he just has to take it easy on off-days, and hope that his teamates get him involved.

Sorry about the link. He's another part, where he follows up his complaints about Rondo with gushing about Sam and how Sam'll try to straighten Rondo out.
"Sam has always helped me," Allen said. "We've always been a great tandem. Even when he's on the bench, just some of the things he sees out there, he's going to make sure he puts them in Rondo's ear and even myself. He knows how to get scoring opportunities off of me and for me.
"He's more efficient than most guys I've played with in my career."

DieselCeltic wrote:Thanks. I do agree with what he says. For the most part they don't even involve him in the offense. As much as I like Pierce and what he did in the game 7 vs the Cavs he was a bit selfish. I bet KG and Ray Ray were upset...Maybe I'm wrong
Why would you call Pierce selfish when what he did was the game plan?

KG said the plan was to "get the ball to PP and get the __ out of the way". Would you rather have Ray take all those shots knowing he wasn't knocking anything down? What about KG, who shot poorly in game 7? What about House who also shot poorly? There was a reason that was the plan, because no one else was getting it done.

There is something to what Ray is saying and he also has away of saying things rather bluntly than can make them more uncomfortable than he meant them to be.
I don't think it is Rondo's fault he is doing what he is told, get the ball inside to KG and work it inside out. But CLE did a good job of disrupting what Boston wanted to do space and timing wise. It takes too long to get it to KG and by then the clock is running down and they would end up with both Pierce and Ray coming to the same side of the court to get the ball.
It is about winning the game and if Ray standing at the 3pt line frozen out of the offense frees Pierce and KG up one on one and we win so be it.

1. Calling Paul selfish is laughable
2. Ray wasn't putting down Rondo or suggesting Cassell should be starting. He and Sam go back to Milwaukee. You don't know the context in which those quotes were given.
3. All Ray needs is ONE bust-out game. He's dealing with distractions but distractions don't make you shoot *this* badly. He had two WIDE open shots that he just blew. It's rhythm, like the article says. He needs to keep shooting until he finds the rhythm. I'll tell you one thing: WE ARE NOT WINNING A CHAMPIONSHIP WITHOUT ANY CONTRIBUTION FROM RAY ALLEN. So stop with the "start Tony Allen" crap. Ray's not 60 years old, he doesn't have cancer or even a broken bone. He's ice cold. He needs to heat up. I'm not sure how, but it just needs to happen. Or we're dead.

If Ray's shot is ON this team is hard to beat. But we've also learned that he can be COMPLETELY OFF and the team can still win. Probably hard for them to win a championship though if he keeps up the brick city. He can't think about it (an impossible task considering his personality) if he wants to be a factor, he has to shoot unconsciously, find a rhythm, be a deadly assassin.
