I’d once again go full youth movement and set ourselves up for another top 5 pick in a really intriguing draft at the top. I don’t see a ton of value in letting Lavine take 20 shots per game on a middling lottery team.
Let’s give those reps to our young core and revaluate post draft next season whether or not we’re ready for a potential playoff push.
We're at least trying to make the playoffs next year, might start tanking around the all star break if the season goes poorly but I can't imagine aiming for a third tank season in a row, and I believe this team has the talent to make the playoffs next year.
All signs from management thankfully points towards the Magic not trying to make any big free agency signings this offseason. Our team will be bad unless we have some young players make unexpected leaps to their games.
Probably will win btwn 25-30 wins, be like 3rd-6th worst team in the league. We will have a young team and having players develop and figure out how to play together as a unit and maturing is the most important thing at this time.
We also have not had 2 tank seasons. Our team was injured to hell 2 seasons ago and we finally cut loose from Vuc, Gordon, & Fournier and tanked (held out players) post all star break, we did the same this past season after the all star break, but overall we just have a young team who are going through growing pains.
I'd rather the young players develop with time and a chance at another top pick and gain assets over rushing to be a 6th-8th seed while compromising our future, I'd hope all Magic fans learned from us rushing last time from 2018-2020.
We will still have big cap space next offseason and can make a big free agency signing or trade for a superstar then. Patience is a virtue, but a 2 & 1/3 season rebuild is not long at all. We are only 1 & 1/3rd of a season into our rebuild. Give it some time.
