I do think Collins, with 4 years $102 million remaining on his contract.... makes some sense over signing Miles Bridges to 4 years $130 million. I like Bridges a little bit more as a player but I could see Weaver saving the money if Collins was just available to have. I wouldn't give up a first for him, but some seconds and a player like Diallo or CoJo sure. If it came down to it, I'd rather just offer Bridges 4 years $130 million rather than give up a first for John Collins at 4 years $102 million.

The problem though is that you'd be hoping Charlotte doesn't match, which they almost surely will. So if you want to guarantee a player coming, it would be the trade route.

Also, the only first the Pistons can trade is the 2029 first. So if a lottery protected 2029 first plus Diallo plus taking on bad contracts is enough to land Collins, I'd definitely do it.

I just moved this back to a standard thread. I think Trader Troy is probably done for awhile. Free agency would be sticky worthy now.

I like him but over his 5 year career he’s averaging 58 games played per season.

I don’t expect an Ironman like Saqqiq but you want a guy that’s a near max investment to be durable.

Yeah ill pass on him. Like the player but I'm interested in what we can find out there.

I’m interested he would bring a pretty good balance to the frontline if not be the best one, and he has late playoff experience. Especially if we could swap back KO and Diallo, the contract is a little steap but would expire just one year late really.

I'd give up Olynyk and a couple of seconds for him, but I think 4 years $102 million remaining he just doesn't have much trade value. I think Brunson does more when it comes to playing winning basketball and he is reportedly getting 4 years $100 million from the Knicks. I think I'd rather have Brunson for $100 million than Collins for $100 million.

Collins defensively is just about where Bagley is.... Collins is like Bagley with a good 3 point shot. I could see us taking Collins in a trade but he isn't worth giving up any real assets for, because at his current contract he just isn't that valuable of an asset.

Same thing I've said with Ayton... I would be on board with a max or near max deal, but you don't give up good players, picks or assets and give him that huge deal. If you have to give up stuff in a sign and trade then you need to get him on a contract making less than max money.

Same goes for Miles Bridges as well... not worth giving up assets for Charlotte not to match... just give him a contract offer we're ok with and see what they do. If they match that's fine they can match.

I was going thru lists of players we could possibly add to be our long-term PF - so a guy that is young, can shoot, and also provide some D.

One name that stuck out to me was Jaxson Hayes.

Wonder what we could offer them to part with Jaxson.

Noel/Killian?

Diallo?

Cade
Ivey
Bey
Jaxson/Bagley
Stewart/Duren

Or if not Jaxson, maybe target Kai Jones?

We'll probably just sign Jerami Grant in free agency the summer of 2023 to a 4 year $100 million contract to be our PF the next four seasons.

That'd be funny af

He'd be coming back knowing he's the 4th option offensively behind Cade, Ivey & Bey.

I'd be fine with that bringing him off the bench behind Stewart!

Duren - Stewart - Bey - Ivey - Cade

Bench of Bags, Grant, Diallo and Hayes

Try to poach Keldon Johnson from Spurs as RFA or UFA Khris Middleton is my bet for FA targets next off-season.

Nnaji from Denver would be a my #1 trade target this offseason.

6’10” PF that can shoot!

After him, I’d look at Kai Jones (Charlotte)
