Re: 2022 NBA Draft Talk: Never too soon
If Moore can improve his shooting, then I will have this strange feeling that TC just recreated Jokic-Murray combo, where Jokic has much higher basketball IQ than Towns, Towns has much more shooting ability, Murray is much better shooter than Moore, but Moore is much better defender. Am I crazy to dream so?

hard to see Moore being a legit shot creator at any point
I think a longer Beverly would be good outcome and pretty ideal if ANT's going to be ball dominant, All-NBA caliber player
secondary ball handler, plus plus defender that rebounds position well, hits open shots but doesn't really get his own that well

I'm OK with you throwing up.
Are you OK with Kessler at 19?
We didn't draft him at 19 so were you OK or did you still throw up drafting him at 22?

I'm ok with Kessler + Moore, yeah.
I would've been pissed if we took him at 19, but when we traded for 22+29, I was ok with Kessler and was hoping we'd get Hardy at 29. I'm fine with Moore, though.

I like Moore better than Hardy. I get that Hardy has a "higher ceiling" on offense, but there's more to basketball than offense. Kessler and Moore is quite a nice haul for pick 19 and loose change. Either of them could have been drafted at 19.

I think he's a better shooter than you give him credit for. Moore can really shoot it.
FG% 3.5 6.4 .544, 3pt 1.3 3.2 .413, FT 2.4 3.0 .805%. He is such a beautiful complimentary player.

Hardy will be really good on Dallas and they get him for basically nothing. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he’s Brunson lite offesively in 4-5 seasons. But since he is on Dallas I hope he is a busty chucker.

Yep. You go in with one pick at 19 and come out with 2 picks that either could have gone higher than 19. That is high level competent front office in action. After so many years of total buffoonery from management this is plenty satisfying.
We get 2 very high floor, mid high level ceiling players. Kessler might end up better.
I have eventual dreams of an Ant, Moore backcourt.

He did that his final season. His first two seasons he didn't shoot well at all. He's potentially a good shooter, but he's a very unproven shooter.

Fair enough. I usually don't care about stats 2 years prior. Most all draft reports reported that he could really shoot it. It's a low sample size because he was a team player and got others involved.
One thing nobody is mentioning about Moore is he is a relentless defender.

Never got a chance to really look into Minot. Very intriguing. Jumper needs serious work, but it's encouraging that he's already a solid ft shooter(75%). Great athlete, already really active on defense, high motor, real good rebound numbers for his position, can pass, and despite not being a shooter can add value on offense.

You, I, and a few others are very psyched over this draft. Just wanted to keep it real regarding Moore's shooting. You look at his last year and he was an excellent shooter. Look at his college career in total and he was an iffy shooter. I give more weight to the most recent. He is a very strong defender. All ACC.

There seems like a pretty clear path for Minott, he develops in the G-League for the next year or two and then takes over Vanderbilt's role once his contract expires (and he likely becomes too expensive).

I love the comp. I love Moore because he does most everything well! He can get to the basket with drives, floaters, finesse moves. No one talks about his defense but he's been described as relentless, guard 4 spots, aggressive......
He's very high floor, mid high ceiling and that would be great by me.
Every great team has guys like this. True basketball players. I think he's that guy.
There is a much smaller chance I'm wrong.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Talk: Never too soon
So cleaning up the draft pick trading confusion, according to RealGM's traded picks page:
TO MEM: 19 (LaRavia), MN '23 2nd
TO MIN: 22 (Kessler), 29 (Washington)
TO HOU: 29 (Washington), '25 MN 2nd, '27 MIN 2nd
TO MIN: 26 (Moore Jr)
TO CHA: 40 (McGowens)
TO MIN: 45 (Minott), '23 NYK 2nd
TO IND: 48 (Brown)
TO MIN: Cash, '26 2nd (Lowest of IND/SA/MIA)
Future Pick status:
1st Rounders: We own all our own, none owed to us
2nd Rounders:
'23 - NYK (ours to OKC - Moore)
'24 - None (ours to OKC/Den - Rubio trade)
'25 - None (ours to HOU (Moore)
'26 - Lowest of IND/SA/MIA (ours to NYK (Ed Davis))
'27 - None (ours to HOU (Moore)
'28 - Ours
So we've traded away our next 5 2nd round picks, 3 during this draft and 2 on Rosas.
If we're good, that's not that big of a deal.
The Knicks pick next year should be pretty good, kinda disappointed the pick we got from Indiana for 48 wasn't their own.
That was a pretty big price to pay to move from 29 to 26 though. Hopefully Moore is well worth it.

A very Denver-like 2nd rd pick imo.

I wouldn't worry too much about the 2nds situation. Connelly will continue to move around the draft board. Denver rarely had their own 2nd.
