The Sixers taking Melton rather than clearing out the salary required to offer PJ the full MLE has me wondering whether other ‘contenders’ really would / could offer him that 3 year $30 million reported on (which could have just been agent posturing).

The Heat can offer a bit more per year than the taxpayer MLE. And I think it’s most likely he just goes back to Miami.

But if no one is offering the full MLE in theory the Bucks could offer more years to try and entice a return. But of course all indications are that it’s not happening since Tucker likely holds enough of a grudge that he’s not taking any sort of discount.

There’s been ‘serious murmurs’ about John Wall successfully negotiating a buyout with the Rockets, “Interest in Wall from the Clippers and Heat, if he can finally make his way onto the open market, has been mentioned for months."

Count me interested. Would be a good tax MLE target.

Memphis dealt Melton, and they're going to lose Tyus Jones in free agency. They drafted Kennedy Chandler is round 2, but could use a vet backup PG for this year.

Grizzlies get: George Hill
Bucks get: Xavier Tillman

Hill fits in to the TPE the Grizzlies created in the Grayson Allen trade. Bucks get a cheap modern 5.

Wall doesn't do much for me but would gladly take him as a backup guard over Hill.

Wouldn't mind that if we find a backup guard.

Is the idea that the Bucks value Hart > future first + Allen + Hill?

A rebuilding Nets team prefers the first + Hill’s expiring to Hart in this scenario.

Blazers keep Allen as a downgrade from Hart but not so much of one that they prefer to deal an additional future first of their own.

Issue is if another team has a better pick or if the Blazers prefer an ending contract to Allen then the Bucks get beaten out.

Alternatively idk how much of an upgrade Hart would be to Allen to warrant trading a pick so far out that it might be a good one…or a very good one depending on how we structure the protections.

Wall would be interesting I guess. I'd imagine he's still got some game left.

The 'problem' with Hart is that he's expiring and not extension eligible as far as I know. So you have to deal with the possibility of him leaving or having to match an ugly contract to retain him. That puts a ceiling on what I'd be ready to give up to get him, even though I like him a lot.

Are the heat and clippers interested in wall or is he interested in la or Miami. Crazy how none of these former/washed stars mention Memphis, Dallas, Milwaukee as places they want to play first.

I think PJ being a buck is probably over but man having him mentor Marjon would be incredible. That said if we move Hill and can add Wall that could be really really fun.

Hart would be extension eligible during the season.

Timberwolves have long wanted PJ. They can do the MLE.

Thought you need 2 years after the last contract was signed? Maybe I'm wrong. Probably I'm wrong.

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q58

Extended contracts
Second anniversary after extension signed, if the extension lengthened the contract to three or four seasons (including any remaining seasons on the existing contract). If the extension lengthened the contract to five or six seasons (including any remaining seasons on the existing contract), it can be extended on the third anniversary after extension signed.

Not sure if I read it correctly, but assuming I did his contract will expire (ETO) before we can extend.

Count me interested. Would be a good tax MLE target.

He's going to take the starting job with the Clippers.

I mean I would consider offering him the starting job here (push Jrue to the 2, Grayson to the bench).

I think its very unlikely that Wall would choose to sign with Milwaukee over Miami or LA, winning has never been this guy's biggest priority and a more starring role in the most glamorous markets while still having a chance to contend would be a no brainer for him.

I'm not really a fan of the fit regardless
