All Quiet On Bradley Beal Trade Front

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jan 8, 2022 2:05 pm

For the first time in years, things are quiet on the Bradley Beal trade front. So much so, that Beal's name isn't even coming up in rumors.

Beal is widely expected to opt out of contract following the 2021-22 season. He'll then be eligible for a contract up to five-years and over $241 million.

In recent years, several teams have sought a trade for Beal. The Washington Wizards have hung on to their franchise player, while Beal has said he has no desire to leave the only team he's ever played for.

He will probably get the $241m contract first, then decide whether to ask for a trade 1-2 seasons into the contract, if things don’t work out.

That’s what all “stars” do nowadays.

This is exactly how I believe that this will play out as well

It's still unbelievable that the wizards were able to offload John Wall and then actually get assets in return for Westbrook.. GM of the year turning two liabilities into a positive..

Can teams have a (reverse) trade kicker?
If they trade a player the salary reduces by 15%

why would any player agree to such a contract?

the league wouldn't allow such terms as it would be used as a way to circumvent the cap! two teams over the caps can trade equal contacts and end up with a 15% reduction in the cap hit

Why... as an example, James Harden might agree to one right now for a 5yr deal instead of a 2 or 3 yr deal he's likely to get.
