Why are people pointing to Harden like he's some cautionary tale about trading for stars? Harden has been amazing the last 2 years, and what is more, he has seamlessly adapted to becoming the 2nd option and the playmaker despite everyone saying he needs to shoot 20 times a game. I mean, in 2021-22, Harden posted 22-7-10 on .583 TS%. If we had Harden instead of Jaylen, we'd have our banner 18.

Over the last two regular seasons, Tatum takes 21% of his shots within 3 feet, and shoots 73.8%.

In that same time, Jaylen has taken 19.8% of his shots within 3 feet, and is shooting 73.5%.

This past playoffs though, Jaylen shot 68.8% within 3 feet, on 18% of his shots. Tatum shot 64.3% on 18% of his shots.

The eye test can be very misleading lol, for myself included, and I think the finals has warped reality a bit for some people. Tatum drives more, has shot more at the rim, gets to the line way more, and has been slightly more efficient the last two seasons, though Jaylen had the edge this playoffs. That’s why I laugh at the soft **** lol, he does that despite drawing way more defensive attention. Do I wish he’d bait for fouls less? Sure, but he’s been an elite finisher for two years, outside of this past finals.

That is exactly it. All of a sudden Jaylen is some all nba level talent who dominates in the playoffs.

lol wasn't my intent. This isn't the JB v JT thread. I knew i shouldn't have opened this tin can lmao. I was literally hesitant to even post this knowing i would trigger these responses dang it.

Nah I think you just asked a question lol. I refuse to make anything about one versus the other, in a big picture sense. I think that’s clearly a dead debate, no disrespect to Jaylen, whose awesome.

I just had to call out the original post, because it was more of the soft nonsense, even though it’s not based in reality.

A 34 year old KD is not a lock for a title at all. We'd have 1-2 years where we'd have a real shot before the decline begins (if it doesn't begin earlier).

JB was the second option (and arguably our best player in the NBA Finals) on a Finals team at 25. A part of a core who has had incredible success together at a young age. Like...no other teams in this position are even considering breaking it up lol. You're acting like KD isn't in his mid 30s lol. KD before Golden State was in his mid 20s. And he still wasn't a "lock" for the Finals/a title playing with another young superstar. We aren't getting that KD.

You only have Jaylen for 2 more years guaranteed anything after that is conjecture and guessing. Again, no one wants to break the team up, we are hypothetically talking about trading Jaylen and fillers for Kevin Durant while maintaining smart/rob/horford/Tatum.

Kevin Durant on a 50% decline is still better than Jaylen brown. I think this is the disconnect you seem to be missing. It’s not even a knock on brown it’s a testament to how good Durant is. This is just insane stuff from a fan base that just irrationally loves a pretty good player. It’s beyond laughable at this point.

Kawhi for brown? 1 year rental. Got it. Ad? Didn’t wanna come here. Check. Harden? Character issues/didn’t wanna be here. Those are like legit reasons to be against a deal even ones I’d still have done. If you won’t trade Jaylen brown for a top 3 guy in the nba whose STILL playing at an mvp level - it’s just a disingenuous conversation anymore at this point.

Keeping 4 starters and adding KD IS not breaking up the team.....the only thing it’s breaking is j anon hearts

"Fan base that irrationally loves a pretty good player" yet you were the one who admitted (had no choice really) that like...two years ago you would have gave up JB for Harden. You know, the same one who had an awful showing in the Playoffs as the second option of a 2nd round team? You're the one who's been made to look foolish with your JB takes over the years, but the people who value a 25 year old star wing are the irrational ones? Okay then. The only thing "beyond laughable" here is your lack of self awareness.

And you even have an obnoxious nickname for fans of a player...who plays for their favorite team? Yikes. Like, how dare people support one of the best players on their team. Good to know I don't have to take you seriously anymore

Made to look like a fool by who? A random weirdo on the internet with the name bar fight whose triggered by a nickname for a segment of fan boys? Lol....yes, haha I’d trade Jaylen brown for james harden. Guess what? James harden fat and who just sucked in the playoffs is still better than your personal Jesus.

Wrong on brown? By your definition sure.....glad to be. Hope I’m wrong again    I’m a Celtics fan I don’t root for my takes to be right when it’s critical of a players ceiling whose so important to our success. I’m not so passionate about my takes or a player that my vision gets blurred by my personal feelings. You guys would let brown **** your wives and then say “thanks Jaylen”

The irony of you calling out someone’s self awareness over trading Jaylen brown for Kevin Durant is well....something lol. you guys cling to his one all star appearance like a new born on his momma’s tit.

He was awful this postseason. Embiid was basically begging him to show up but he couldn’t do it because his hammy is cooked and has been out of shape for 2 consecutive seasons.

Because I was huge on the harden train so they feel as if I’ll take that to heart...despite the fact that this form of harden is still real good he’s just not what he was and don’t want to acknowledge the stats you just mentioned. They also fail to bring up that after that trade to Brooklyn he played at an mvp level for the remainder of that season.

I think KD has 1 great year left and he probably misses 30 games. I think he probably is washed up in 2024. When you factor that it’s JB plus 18 million in salary plus multiple picks to make it happen…..I think not. If KD can play at this level for 3 playoffs I don’t hesitate…..I just don’t think he can. JB is only 25 and still getting better but might bolt in free agency too.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

You should watch the games. Embiid was awful, Maxey was a black hole, Harris was useless, Doc didn't have a plan, and Harden was the only functional part of that offense.
You can't win when your MVP-candidate center has below-freezing IQ and thinks he's Mark Price and starts every possession from 25 feet out.
Spo just decided to have Tucker faceguard Harden and then bring doubles, realizing the Sixers didn't have a plan.

Goes from 30, 7 and 6 at age 33… to washed up at age 35?

Steph will be the same age. You think he’ll be washed as well?

Embiid was playing with a ligament tear in his thumb and a fractured face. Harden couldn’t get passed any defender and was only chucking step back threes plus he was terrible on defense.

Well, that didn't take long. And prepare to continue to eat crow. Because KD to Boston ain't happening. So get ready to deal with "J anons" (or whatever other cringey nickname you come up with) for a little while longer.

Personal Jesus = wanting to keep the second best player on the Eastern Conference champions who is 25 years old. I don't have to cling on to ****. The results are what they are. We were two games from a championship with a team led by 24 and 25 year olds, and likely would have won with a healthy Rob (considering how dominant we were with him on the floor). I could give a **** if he has 1 all star appearance (he most certainly would have had one this year if not for injury/the team's bad start), what matters is who he is now, and going forward. He's proven to be more than capable of being the number 2 on a championship team at 25 years old. A 34-36 year old KD (basically, the last years of his prime if he's lucky) leading this Celtics team to a title within those years are FAR from a guarantee. And then your window is done. I'll take the group that was on the doorstep a few weeks ago despite their youth/compromised health, thank you very much.

Certain regards....ie better than he was, better than i had once thought he could be and yet still not anywhere near as good as j anon says he is. You can bring up health all you want- I can too......Middleton healthy we are home a month before we ended up being and we are a 2nd round out. Speaking of health....Jaylen himself has missed plenty of time for injury as well including the post season last year.

What results are you speaking of again? do we hang banners for winning 2 games in the finals? I’m confused. We didn’t do anything lol. It was an incredible run. We had a great year and came really close. We didn’t finish the job however. We had a really good team not a great one. A team you add too and don’t tinker with unless unique opportunity presents itself- like a generational all time talent.

This isn’t a deal just for the sake of doing a deal. This isn’t just “hating” on Jaylen. I don’t blame you tho - he’s a great guy off the court, super intelligent and charismatic. Almost makes me wanna go full j anon myself at times but I catch myself.

I hate talking about trading JB, partly because like him as a player and person but also because the conversation turns toxic every time.

You can certainly not want to trade a 25 year old underpaid homegrown player for a 33 year old increasingly injured full max player and not be a homer. Its not a crazy position to take.

You can also be totally fine with it reasoning that in the short term it gives you a better chance at winning a title. I don't think that's the right approach to take given what we saw last year. But its certainly not crazy, or being a "hater" or whatever.

And there's absolutely no reason to make this some Tatum/Brown debate for the millionth time because what even is the point of the debate? They are both on the team, be happy to have two good wings.

There is no Tatum Jaylen debate....there’s one side trying to tell the other that their guy is anywhere near the same level as Tatum.

That said hard to eat crow on this KD thing when 1) i don’t think he’s coming here 2) they probably find a better package than Jaylen anyways ( sorry j anon)

if you wouldn’t trade Jaylen brown for a top 3 player whose still playing at an mvp level and even if he dropped off 30% would still be in a different tier than Jaylen you just can’t be taken seriously. I’ve been hard on Jaylen and I’ve eaten crow in certain regards but this is just a new level of homerism blind love.

J anon 2024

The Celtics were statistically the best team in the league from like the end of January, to the end of the season. Or did you just forget that? I must have imagined all those games where they were dominating Playoff teams left and right. They weren't even healthy, and got 2 wins away from a title. The Celtics got closer to the championship than KD has at any point of his career outside of the GSW years lol. Yet somehow, he's a lock for a title at 34 while the team lead by guys in their 20s who played the best basketball in the league in the second half of the season aren't championship caliber. Got it. Keep chalking up the team's undeniable success with JB as the number 2 option to "J anon" **** or whatever ( don't expect this to catch on btw). Just don't blame anyone but yourself when you continue to look foolish.

Jaylen has never had a catastrophic injury in his career btw. Outside of the 2021 season, played every single Playoff game of deep Playoff runs. Oh, and he's 25 years old. Not 34.

J anon has already caught on and owns real estate in your head....that’s good enough already. You’ve also brought it up like 5 times so clearly it’s struck a nerve or has registered with you.

Stats are cute- did we get a banner for being the best team in the league from January on? I missed it. Hey, what just happened in June? again you can blame everything on health for the reason we didn’t win it all but health is the reason they were actually in the finals lol.

i said we were really good not great. We weren’t. We have a really good team and an elite defense. A great defense. We were not a great team. We also struggled in close games - maybe adding KD here may help? idk lol just a thought. 2 things can also be true ; I can think we are really good as is while also thinking we would be much better with Kevin Durant.

If you add Kevin Durant to this team you have the best duo in the league hands down. It’s not just that with Kevin Durant we are a lock it’s Kevin Durant WITH Jayson Tatum w/ the rest of the group

If we trading for Luka or Ja Morant yeah I'd bite the bullet otherwise no trade although the writing has always been on the wall JB leaves the first chance he gets. He clearly wants to be first option
