Spurs want that Victor Wembanyama tank

I’m assuming Collins/Heurter, Gallo for Murray, Zach Collins or so?

This. Murray is better than Collins, but how many guards do the Hawks intend on playing? Huerter is going to be their starting PF at this rate.

I am sure Huerter is going to the Spurs too if this trade is going down.

I m guessing the Spurs are concerned about Murray's health moving forward.

This article is clearly saying 'no one is talking about a Collins-Murray swap, it is a larger deal in which other assets will be exchanged.' Especially given the Spurs have more interest in someone like Murray than someone like Collins and don't have any other full-time initiators. Seems like they'll only trade him if they get something that'll help them rebuild better, not someone like Collins.

I am so lost. Murray is a friggin beast and someone you want to keep in the Spurs position. There must be some issues behind the scenes for sure if it's gotten this far.

Have you watched GAMES or BOXSCORES?

And there are issues.

The dude isn't a modern head case as we know them, but is getting close.

Unfollowing the team randomly on social media, posting that no one in the team works as hard as him, doing the Westbrook pull-up and miss and ignoring his teammates over and over in big plays.

This rumour was out there pre draft. Trade makes no sense for either party.

Box scores and the games vs the Raptors. You're seriously telling me the Spurs would be better off with Collins + a few assets?

I mean, Fischer may have some Atl sources or whatever, but if some team wants to give us a "Jrue-like" package it would be hard for us to ignore it. We're just in Year One of our rebuild, DJ's posting IG messages about how he works too hard to not win or just wants to win something like that, he'll be eligible for a max extension in a couple of years that resembles LaVine's, and unless we go an expedited route to improvement then none of that fits our timeline, or DJ's.

I'd be looking at an OO-based package rather than Collins. Maybe. Interestingly, both are repped by Excel Sports Management, same as Jakob who may or may not be traded as well. These things matter in terms of good relationships greasing the wheels and being on the same path together.

It's not that we don't know who we have in DJ, but at some point the reality of your best player on 34-win team getting maxed means you have to look at all your options. It's prudent. We're not good enough for anyone to be untradeable.

I wouldn't say it makes no sense for the Hawks. They are in need of better defense at the SG position. Adding in Murray also gives Atlanta two people who are capable of handling the ball. One of Trae's biggest offensive weaknesses is his lack of off the ball movement and scoring. Having a good secondary ball handler allows him to work on that part of his game.
Most Hawks fans have said the main improvement the Hawls had to get better at this offseason was better defense at SG and another legit offensive weapon. The Hawks offense was too reliant in Trae either going off and/or Bogi/Huerter being hot from 3.

Or it's just smoke being blown by Collins representation as he tries to get out of Atlanta.
Technically if the Hawks call the Spurs once a week and propose a Collins for Dejounte trade and the Spurs say "no" every time, that's still an ongong discussion.
You never know what exactly these rumors mean but the sources behind them almost always have ulterior motives than just getting the story out there so fans are well informed.

I don't get why the Spurs are looking to trade Murray at all, he's a guy you should want to build around. The fact that it's for Collins makes it even more baffling.

There's gotta be a 3rd team involved if this is really gonna happen. Don't see why Spurs would want Collins after just having drafted Sochan.

I'd imagine they'd be concerned with Collins health as well, and honestly Murray is just better.

He prevents from tanking. Spurs may have come to realize that, for as smart and as well run they are, they’re currently stuck on a treadmill with no end in sight.

They haven’t been in a position to draft a Duncan and they haven’t unearthed another Kawhi. They might be looking at how the Rockets and OKC just built themselves a core and thinking they might want to take a similar approach.
