The Miles Bridges Thread

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Mon Jun 27, 2022 2:41 am

Miles coming to Detroit seems to be a real possibility. He just posted on Instagram saying, if Charlotte doesn’t pay him a lot, he’s going to the pistons.

This means three things:

1. The pistons clearly have reached out with interest
2. Bridges clearly sees the pistons as an option to at least leverage
3. He’s impulsive

Do you like the fit? Think he’s a worth the max? A little unhinged with the whole Lean thing?

I would. I think he effects the game more than Ayton does.

He's the perfect fit for us. The max is a lot, but we always have to overpay to get FAs. I rather pay him the max, than split that money between Bagley/KO/Diallo/CoJo for example.

I sure hope this isn't true.

NBA has been cracking down on tampering lately.

Some interesting stuff about Miles Bridges

He averages 73 games played per season

He is an efficient offensive player. His TS is 59%, that's well above average

He is 3rd in real plus minus for Small Forwards

2nd in RPM Wins (Bey was 6th FWIW. LeBron 4th) for SFs

He increased his 3 point shooting volume and decreased the percentage, he only shot 33.1% in almost 6 attempts per game this season. Last season he shot 40% in 4.5 attempts per game.

He averaged 20 PPG and 7 RPG last season, and he was a positive offensive player even with his high volume (15 FG per game) and he was almost neutral as a defender.

I think Bridges and Bey would be interchangeable at SF/PF depending on matchups, giving us even more flexibility, which is great.

Like I said, Bridges would be perfect. Go get him Weaver. Pay whatever it takes.

Bridges can know the Pistons have interest without any tampering. Weaver may have mentioned our FA gameplan to Cade, who's cousin clearly posted that something big was going to happen soon for Detroit.... Cade could have mentioned it to Bridges.

Bridges is a Klutch client, and Rich Paul also represents CoJo and we've got business with CoJo regarding his option so its likely Weaver and Paul have talked within the last few days. Bridges actually wanted to accept the 4 year $60 million contract extension that Charlotte offered last summer but Rich Paul talked him out of it.... so I guess he does balance things out a bit you loose money with one client (KCP with Detroit) and make it for another.

It's also just generally known that we have a huge pile of spending money, most in the NBA, and we just traded away our starting PF and have a big hole in that spot. Bridges is form Michigan and the best FA PF on the market.

My offer for Bridges would be as follows.

22-23: $27.0 million guaranteed + $3 million if team makes playoffs
23-24: $28.5 million guaranteed + $3 million if team makes playoffs
24-25: $30.0 million guaranteed + $3 million if team makes 2nd round of playoffs
25-26: $31.5 million guaranteed + $3 million if team makes 2nd round of playoffs
Total 4 years $117 million guaranteed + $12 million of incentives essentially gives him the full 4 year max if he hits those incentives

Watching the game highlights he looks to be a guy that doesn't have to be the focus to get his. That I like. He seems to be ready for the moments that it comes to him. Cade and Ivey will be the focus of the offense. Lobs to the big men.

What would HIS max be anyways? I'd rather have him than John Collins who is getting 25 a year average.

4 year 100 mil? I'd do that. 4 year 120 mil. starts and 25 and ends at 35. hmmmm, probably ok. 5 year 130-140 mil if we can trade them something to ease their cap or give them a player back on the low end.

Only Charlotte can offer him 5 years. 5 years 173 million is the max Charlotte can pay him.

We can get him at 5 years if we negotiate a S&T deal for him. Maybe send Charlotte Bagley+ for Bridges?

We can't. That rule changed several years ago. The only team that can give him a 5 years contract is Charlotte. Period.

Max for any RFAs like Ayton or Bridges is essentially 4 years and $130 million.

If he was a better 3 point shooter, I'd be a definite yes (although if that were the case there's probably zero questions of Charlotte viewing him as a guy they have to max). Also, if Mathurin was the pick instead of Ivey, maybe I'd be more interested. I just think that starting lineup could be very bad from 3.

I really don’t think that the Hornets will let him walk. They hold the cards here. Of course I also thought we wouldn’t get Ivey and that an extra lotto pick would cost more.

Miracles and wonders.

It's funny, I was just about to make a poll about this.

I've gone back and forth on this. I think he's a good fit on the court and is the right age to fit the timeline (only a year older than Bey) but I worry about his "other interests" off the court hindering his play especially after he gets the big money. His addition would create a hell of a lot of excitement for next year though but is it the right move long term? Eh, I don't know.

I think I'm leaning towards continuing to slow track this thing and adding a few mid tier free agents and a sin eat or two and I think that's what Weaver will do although he's so unpredictable that anything could be on the table I suppose, I wouldn't even rule out an Ayton pursuit.

Stewart / Duren
Bridges / Bagley
Bey / Diallo
Ivey / Monk
Cade / CoJo(or Hayes)

This could be the lineup.... Livers might have to beat out Bagley or Diallo for minutes. Killian might have to beat out CoJo for minutes. Bagley could also play backup C minutes if Duren is still a bit young/raw to be a 20 MPG backup on a nightly basis. Even though Duren is an elite athlete, at this moment he's lacking skill wise and I'm expecting him to struggle early but hopefully get rolling as the season moves on.

Olynyk would have to be moved out in a sign and trade for this to happen either to LA for Monk or to Charlotte for Bridges.

Two new rookies, two new FA rotation players, and 6 returners should be enough to mix things up a bit. Casey/Weaver did mention in the rookie presser that the past few years they were hit hard with injuries and this year they have the ability to have a bit more depth to be ready for when injuries happen.

As long as the off court stuff checks out I would be fine with maxing Bridges

The thread I've been waiting for. I'm trying to talk myself into it. Someone sell me Bridges.
