Re: Poll: would you trade JB for KD?
Of course you trade Brown for Durant. The point is to win a championship and Durant gets you closer.
I stand by what I said when I said if you have brown as a second option you're not going to win a title.

Are you suggesting there's 30 guys you'd trade Jaylen for?
Yes, but will he get better enough to make the gap between him and KD less than massive over the next two seasons? I’m not asking in a prick way, just genuinely curious. I just can’t imagine KD going from an MVP caliber player this year (when he played, I acknowledge that he only played 55 games and he has some injury concerns) to Jaylen level (a guy at least in the discussion to make the ASG) over the next two years.
And 30? No, probably 12-15 guys. That’s a trade value ranking though, not player ranking, and they are very different things.
IF healthy, KD is the superior player. Historically most players really decline around 35 though. If KD was a post player, there's a better likelihood of him remaining dominant for another 2-3 years. However he's a slender 6'10 perimeter player. If he blows out his knee or Achilles next year, the franchise is f'd cause there's no picks left.
Lastly, since we're talking about trading Jaylen, trade ranking is very relevant.
If you knew KD would stay mostly healthy for the next 2/3 years, would you do it? Only asking because if we get last year’s KD, I think we’d be unstoppable come playoff time, especially because I think veterans would line up to play here.
I just assumed when you said top 20, you were talking player rankings and not trade value rankings. Yeah yeah, that’s what I get for assuming.

Jaylen closer to top 30 than he is 20, based on pretty much every ranking, and not making the all star team this past year/lack of all nba votes. But this is mostly semantics at this point. And if we’re going to say KD will be 34, at least be consistent and point out that Jaylen will be 26 when next season starts. There’s a huge age gap regardless, obviously lol.

But in the end you can't turn back the clock. Once guys get to the point KD is at they don't start playing 70 games in the regular season again and if they do they don't hold up in the post season. Its Achilles injury season gone, 35 games, 55 games HOF All Star trio implodes around you. Ironically the way Durant plays with him being so dominant on offense, and while a talented defender not exactly as committed on that end anymore turns me off even more because it makes it so hard on everyone else the 25-30 games he isn't there.
I would probably still do some crazy things to get him to Boston, but giving up the hand Boston has right now seems like your over thinking it a little too much.

Na. Let’s not exaggerate here. Probably only 10-12 players I’d easily trade him for today.
Both sides have legitimate arguments. Is no need for the condescending comments from the usual suspects.

Honestly, this thread is a lot less hostile than I was expecting. Two dudes went at it pretty hard, but otherwise it’s been mostly well behaved.

I stand by what I said when I said if you have brown is a second option you're not going to win a title.
If Tatum wasn't averaging 10 less points than Curry in the Finals, the Celtics would already have.

I can't disagree Tatum wasn't great but Brown wasn't for most of the series either. He was inefficient most of the games.
Brown is a good third option not a good second option.

You only have Jaylen for 2 more years guaranteed anything after that is conjecture and guessing. Again, no one wants to break the team up, we are hypothetically talking about trading Jaylen and fillers for Kevin Durant while maintaining smart/rob/horford/Tatum.
Kevin Durant on a 50% decline is still better than Jaylen brown. I think this is the disconnect you seem to be missing. It’s not even a knock on brown it’s a testament to how good Durant is. This is just insane stuff from a fan base that just irrationally loves a pretty good player. It’s beyond laughable at this point.
Kawhi for brown? 1 year rental. Got it. Ad? Didn’t wanna come here. Check. Harden? Character issues/didn’t wanna be here. Those are like legit reasons to be against a deal even ones I’d still have done. If you won’t trade Jaylen brown for a top 3 guy in the nba whose STILL playing at an mvp level - it’s just a disingenuous conversation anymore at this point.
Keeping 4 starters and adding KD IS not breaking up the team.....the only thing it’s breaking is j anon hearts
"Fan base that irrationally loves a pretty good player" yet you were the one who admitted (had no choice really) that like...two years ago you would have gave up JB for Harden. You know, the same one who had an awful showing in the Playoffs as the second option of a 2nd round team? You're the one who's been made to look foolish with your JB takes over the years, but the people who value a 25 year old star wing are the irrational ones?Okay then. The only thing "beyond laughable" here is your lack of self awareness.
And you even have an obnoxious nickname for fans of a player...who plays for their favorite team? Yikes. Like, how dare people support one of the best players on their team.Good to know I don't have to take you seriously anymore
Made to look like a fool by who? A random weirdo on the internet with the name bar fight whose triggered by a nickname for a segment of fan boys? Lol....yes, haha I’d trade Jaylen brown for james harden. Guess what? James harden fat and who just sucked in the playoffs is still better than your personal Jesus.
Wrong on brown? By your definition sure.....glad to be. Hope I’m wrong again![]()

I’m a Celtics fan I don’t root for my takes to be right when it’s critical of a players ceiling whose so important to our success. I’m not so passionate about my takes or a player that my vision gets blurred by my personal feelings. You guys would let brown **** your wives and then say “thanks Jaylen”
The irony of you calling out someone’s self awareness over trading Jaylen brown for Kevin Durant is well....something lol. you guys cling to his one all star appearance like a new born on his momma’s tit.
This is completely unfair and untrue we all know the natural reaction would be to join a message board and make thousands of negatives posts.lol
Maybe even post clips of every mistake you can find.
I apologize for the things I have said in the past.

Brown is a good third option not a good second option.
The second options for recent champions are Wiggins, Middleton, Davis, Siakam. With the exception of Davis, I think Brown is better than the other ones or at least comparable. Brown is good enough to be a second option on a title team IMO, but Tatum has to rise to the levels of 2021 Giannis, 2020 Lebron, 2019 Kawhi, and 2018 Durant. A greater need for this team is a true third option and a better bench.

Middleton is better than Brown and it can be argued that Wiggins outplayed played brown and even Tatum for that matter in the finals.
If we're being perfectly honest Toronto won that series because the warriors had catastrophic injuries.
Obviously Tatum has to be better for them to take the next step but at the same time I think they still need a better second option.

Trading brown for Durant gives Boston a better chance to win the championship which is what this is all about.

I disagree. Those who would take freedom from the American people deserve nothing less. And you're welcome to ban me for that comment if you wish, I don't care.

I think that's a nice way to put it. Most of us probably have at least some of that feeling towards the homegrown-ness of the team as it is. And some of us would still pull the trigger.

I'm not of the interest or position to ban anyone for anything, lol. It's tough to find something that doesn't fit into America's legal freedom of expression but publicly advocating for specific acts of violence gets one outside them though.

God the Nets are so stupid.
They could have traded Kyrie last year and kept the Beard, instead they off loaded the Beard and they are now headed for a complete Three star breakup. What a re crazy off season.
I really don't know what we are going to do or what we should do.

No. Why would I trade a 25 year old rising all star averaging 24 ppg and who just scored 34 points in game 6 of the finals for a 33 year old aging superstar?
That is insane. In two years Brown enters his prime and Durant is thinking Retirement.
