I think he's going to surprise alot on this board and be much better than expected
His game is much more suited for the NBA and he fills a huge need for us

Re: Welcome Caleb Houstan!
He is a project but he has a valuable skill. He has to put up a lot of work in the training room and in the gym to be a capable NBA player but the potential is there if he wants it. Kind of feels like a draft and stash pick which I'm fine with.

If he can stand there and shoot threes...he can start at 2, unless we find a better option

He'll be lucky to get a decent amount of minutes let alone starting. We're gonna give chances for Fultz/Suggs/Cole etc.
Eventually he may be a big shooter for us if he is able to hit them reliably.

I don't see Fultz playing a second at 2. I love Suggs, but if he doesn't get his shot going, I'd keep him at backup 1 for now. Cole could be the guy at 2, despite his size, he can make shots...he just needs to accept his role. My dark horse is RJ at the 2. He can defend, he can blow by on closeouts and he has shown flashes of effective spot up shooting. I really believe this team no longer needs a super dynamic 2...they really need a legit threat to make 3's until you commit to defending him (and not crowding Franz, PB, and Fultz). For that same reason, perhaps Bamba as backup C makes sense too...and if WCJ doesn't up his 3pt% (I think he will), Bamba might have a real opening for extended PT, despite his other weaknesses. There's just no denying the importance of floor spreading around 3/5 of our starters...I expect Franz to progress from 3 as well, but I mostly want to see him cutting and driving.
Hopefully, Mosely is a guy with good teaching techniques for off-ball movement. It's a pretty new emphasis for this team. PB is a pretty unique combo of size and style of play. I'm completely on board with it - just need to see some roster adaptation.

Caleb is going to surprise a lot of you. I'm waiting to see what kind of contract he gets from thr team. He can be a very solid rotational player. Not right now, but I think we hit on this 2nd rounder.

I'm all for the second round wild swings with no risk...I think this guy is not a wild swing. I expect him on our regular roster, unless we make other trades for vets that take his spot.

If you think of a starting lineup of fultz/suggs/Franz/banchero/WCJ ... They all have certain levels of gravity on their own... Even Wendell... Though on the lower level. They are all skilled players at their positions and I feel like they will be best continuing with the free flowing offense where they attack mismatches and get others open shots. That lineup.... Will show rotations of leading scorers on a game to game basis.... And solid to great spot up shooting improvements will go a looooong way.
Surprisingly I have more confidence in our front court from deep... But have tons of faith that fultz and suggs will work things out!
And if that is our starting line up .. it will be crazy that if our bench was cole/RJ/okeke/JI/Mo 1 or 2. I expect great strides from them all. Cole... I believe in the kid as much as anyone else.... And think he gets a bad wrap for trying too hard. I think he would embrace the bench player role and excel at it too. "Human torch" mantle might be passed on to him. Haha

Does he come in as our best shooter? His shot visually looks fantastic and our best shooters Franz and RJ are pretty average.

His form is good, but his percentages were not good in college, very inefficient eFG, really not good from 2, and only shot about 35% from 3.

Fournier was more of a slasher early in his carrier, but I get the comparison. Both tall, not very athletic still trying on defense, kind of good passers and promising shooters.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Re: Welcome Caleb Houstan!
I mean the odds are pretty high than even if Houstan is the best pure shooter on the team that he's still not going to play all that much right away because he isn't really all that good at anything else at the moment.
He's so young still. Only 19 years old for another six months. He's a long way off from being a significant contributor.
The good news is the Magic have nothing but time.

Michigan collegues and our new training facility is propably what made him stay in the draft if we gave him promise. We can work on his body and we have real development program. We have so much young talent that i have problem projecting a starter role for him even if he becomes a steal of the draft.
Only chance is Suggs/Houstan/Wagner/Bachero/Carter
I know he has marginal chance to become a starter but dude has some talent and he was highly ranked, i see a lot of athletic potential.
From the bench he could be Ross replacement as movement shooter. You can always find place for 6'8 shooters but then it doesnt bode well for Hampton or Okeke. I wonder how much he will play in g league.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !
