Here’s my thoughts.. He’ll back back at start of the season. Also, I saw him OIA 3 weeks ago- I know “height” very well and JI looks like he’s 7ft now (without the hair).

He will be on a minutes limit for a while I would imagine....but if he can get through this year healthy this team has a real chance to be a big surprise in the East.

Even if healthy to start the season, i have zero expectations hes playing at the end of the season

Hes too fragile to even consider a rotational piece at this point

Its unbelievable he is not a lock to start next season. Two years ago he was rolling and in consideration for dpoy and now he is propably our third best forward. How fast things change in the NBA. As defensive specialist he has most value in starting lineup but i cant imagine benching Wagner and Banchero. His best chance is that Franz can guard smaller wings. Small ball five from the bench makes some sense too. Crazy world
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

In Weltman's interview with Russillo JI was noticably omitted when he was talking about the team. JI was only brought up when asked directly and even then there was no comment about him being ready for the season - just that he had surgery in the spring and is working hard to get back to where he was pre-injury (which is also just disappointing to think he's missed 2 years of development).

I'm thinking JI is no longer in the long term plans for WeHam and it seems like he may not even be ready to play again at the beginning of the season to up his trade value.

im so over him. Like ive said before i do not factor him at all when talking about this team. If he plays and surprise me then cool. But i do not see him as being part of this team till he is out there playing some real minutes.

No timetable means nothing during the offseason. He literally said "im going to be ready to rock."

And you still made this thread. :banghead:

The goal is to get healthy... he's taking the necessary efforts to do so...

.... so no need to stress about it. let's pray he comes back good to go and solidify our front court.

I don't think he is being written off. Just the FO will be planning on a worst case scenario without him- 'plan for the worst, hope for the best'. As UCF says, if he plays, he plays. Anything is a bonus from here.

Im sick of stashing him in fantasy keeper leagues, that is for sure.

Here's my hot take: Dude's done. He'll stick around for another contract if he's lucky, but it might const him ability to walk in his late 40s.

He also said the same thing last year. He said that he would be ready by start of the season. Then it was Christmas (if he had his way). So now it sounds like the timeline is not certain.

Meh... With this team drafting PB it's clear the team is moving on from him in the sense that he's part of the core. If he comes back he makes the team so much better defensively.

If healthy, I would start him over Carter. Easily.

in case you dont know how well management kept the paolo pick discreet, that’s how they go with securing information. Less talk, less mistake.

Not mentioning JI doesnt necessarily mean he isnt part of the plan.
