WHY? I don't get it. Dejounte Murray is a lot better player than Collins.

It won't be for Collins. Picks heavy and short contracts, I think...

DeJounte Murray to Hawks???

Post#65 » by Scalabrine » Mon Jun 27, 2022 8:51 pm

Read on Twitter

Seems crazy that they'd be able to get him without having to give up Collins but I guess the Spurs want to bottom out instead of fighting for the play-in.

Have to see what exactly theyre getting but I feel like the fit between Murray and Young is kinda weird.

the reports now are that the deal is for gallinari and picks, not collins. which makes a lot more sense for both teams.

gallo provides a good vet presence and only has one year left on his deal (for $21M) and murray adds talent to atlanta's relatively young core.

If the Hawks get him for no Collins, and Murray doesn't have actual health concerns going forward, wow.

Would be a pretty huge get for the Hawks.

Or theyve lost their minds since Duncan left the organization lol

Warning: stop trolling an entire organization which is not helpful to the discussion at all.

It's like Jerami grant situation for the spurs. They are rebuilding and they think he won't be the best player for a championship level so they don't wanna pay him a lot going into the future yet this approach decreases his value hence San Antonio will end up having a late first for him just like what Detroit got for trading jerami grant.

I dont see how Dekauntae and Trae would co-exist. Both need high usage. Unless u try and turn Dejauntae into a Marcus Smart type

But Grant is clearly a role player while Murray seems to have star potential. Sure he shouldn't be your teams best player but he'd be a pretty damn good 2nd/3rd player on a great team.

I think Murray has more value than Grant.

1) He's a better player and a more coveted position.
2) He's probably the best contract in the entire league.

That would be a huge win for the Hawks if it's true that they wouldn't have to give up John Collins for Dejounte Murray.Murray would improve the Hawks defense.Woudl take some pressure off of Trae Young. Gallo is a good player, but he won't be a major loss. The only thing I question is that would Murray be able to play shooting Guard position. Big lost for the Spurs however.I don't see how those 1st round picks would be that high. Maybe in the low 20s or maybe even lower.Unless the Hawks crumble at some point, these pick may not mean much. Also, Gallo doesn't fit the Spurs timeline.

Maybe a 3 team deal where the third team who takes on Collins gives up some draft capital to SAS? Makes sense to me

i think it would be awesome for trae to add some curry-like off ball movement. he would have a ton of gravity but currently almost 80% of his 3 pointers are off the dribble in some way. murray could handle the ball/make plays while trae runs around screens trying to get free.

trae is amazing with the ball as well so i'm not suggesting he abandons that, just that he adds off-ball movement as another weapon for the team.
