This will be up to KD. The stars get to choose these days, and if he and Lavine are close then we’ve definitely got a team that could be appealing.

In such a case, we don’t necessarily need to have some home run offer, just something good enough. I say that to mean that Lavine and Derozan are not going anywhere, and Brooklyn has no leverage to demand it.

Vuc, Pat, Coby, Portland pick; take ‘em. We’ll figure it out from there.

Lonzo, Lavine, Derozan, KD is an instant contender. Still need that defensive big man though.

Wow. This basically means that the writing was on the wall that no one was willing to pay him.

Kyrie really thinks way too highly of himself. Yeah, he has his contract situation is just so revolutionary and it's going to change the world.

Get over yourself, you tool.

Why is that a surprise?

Not to be insensitive, but all signs point to him not really having basketball as a priority at this stage in his life, but he uses it more as a tool to share his 'wisdom and knowledge' to us mere mortal beings who don't know any better. It's absolutely clear that no team is going to invest a big guaranteed contract on a risk like him, and rightfully so.

Really, I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually just retires in the next 3 seasons.

A trade with BRK straight seems so simple, that's why everybody limits their thinking to that. First, if KD wants to be traded he's not going to have a TV show and announce what the destinations might be and have them phone in offers. He tells the Nets and they like the idea of keeping it quiet.

Then think about what BRK has in their basket once Kyrie exits. Did he opt out and walk to sign for next to nothing with LAL or for whatever the Knicks could pay or did his agent find a S&T that both sides (and from most reports that's only the Lakers) could accept? What return they get or don't get for Kyrie determines the direction the Nets are going to go and what they want to get back for KD.

You take the two stars off that roster and they have Simmons and Curry. they're starting over.

What if BRK doesn't like exactly what the Bulls have to offer, is it unreasonable to include a 3rd team who does have some assets the Nets like and could take some of what the Bulls have to offer. There's too much swirling around to even start guessing what could happen.

I know we have the 10mil MLE but if we were to trade Vuc or Dmar we would still go after center like M.Robinson. Say if we were to use the 10mil on center could we still use the 6mil Tax MLE to sign someone else like a Batuum?

Nope. You get one or the other. Not both.

Kyrie gonna f them over. He probably plays this year and is on his best behavior. Then, teams will come running with the max and he'll work the S&T. By the following season, he'll be back to the bs he is on now.

He legit only did this because no team wants to give him a long term deal at the max. And I can't blame them. He ran his own practices without the coach, asked for time off almost when the season started after trying to get no one to play in the bubble, etc.

If they don’t make it too the finals I can see this being the final year Kyrie and KD are together.

I guess I’m more surprised by the speed of this. Free agency hasn’t even started yet. Just a few days ago he was trying to scare the Nets into thinking KD would leave if he did, today it came out that he was given permission to find himself a sign and trade. The Nets called his bluff, and the market was so bad for him that he decided to opt in this quickly…it’s pretty incredible.

I’m glad, I can’t stand him.

This is the first realistic scenario. Not saying it is a good scenario but Lavine is the only way.

Yeah because KD wants to come to a Bulls team without LaVine.

Whoever said that? In terms of a competitive package it would need to include Lavine. KD isn't coming here.

IIRC, today was his deadline to pick up his player option, so that's why the timing is what it is.
