Kyrie could take half the season off in Brooklyn, not get paid and still make like $18m which is 3x the Lakers MLE salary.

If you can get Simmons healthy it’s still a possible title contender. Full season with Seth Curry, development from younger guys and find some new ring chaser types.

Also no covid restrictions so Kyrie can go as much as possible and take the burden off of KD.

He still can be traded.

i dont know if it has a date? maybe wait 3 month or something.

He can be traded as soon as he signs that he exercises his option. No waiting period.

Anyone wanna rebel against the talking heads pushing this troll ass nonsense, especially the **** with the MLE story that was NEVER real? Or we back to business as usual with the next story?

Simmons as point center, surrounded by Kyrie, Seth Curry, Durant, and Bruce Brown would be pretty fun to see.

Maybe, just maybe the Lakers wanted him, but realistically couldn't even scratch the idea of what to offer him or for him, so basically, yeah no one wanted him.

Rob be like: "Hey ma man Kyrie, how about that talk you said that's not about the money and you come here to our shiny and peaceful Los Angeles to join your daddy Bron for 6m/y?"

Kyrie: "Hell naw and get the **** off my face"

Rob once again: "Heyyyyy if it isn't my homie Sean, how you doin' man? How's the family? I was wondering maybe you wanted THT and that monster PG Westgod..."

Sean Marks: "Hey, we fine, thank you. Best wishes or not. Enjoy the West play-in next year. Yeah, we'll be enjoying the East one haha :( "

Lakers wanted him..

Probably no 3 team deal with Russ that made since

Kyrie didnt want to take 6M

We could have cleared up cap space honestly, but Kyrie would have had to take a discount

I wonder if he would still get traded as the Nets have the choice

no S&T was available and he wasn't signing for 6M ever. No brainer.

That team still has a ton of growth potential if the stars stay focused. They went for the overkill on buyout guys before but should get more production from others moving forward. Still have Joe Harris as well if he gets healthy

So taking $37M was Kyrie's way of being different and leading us into tomorrow?

So he can still be traded right?

I am kinda shocked LAL didn't step up here and offer Russ, 1st, and a swap to a 3rd team to send some pieces to BKN

Maybe they did and its not enough, but it should be, he is an expiring and there are lots of bad deals out there to move for Russ

[Bobby Marks] He (Kyrie) is eligible to sign an extension up until June 30 with Brooklyn or enter the 2023 as an unrestricted free agent. By opting-in, Irving is eligible to be traded to any of the 29 teams and the hard cap restriction does not apply.

Lmao, Kyrie just said let's run it back. Honestly probably best case scenario for the nets. Get to give this squad a chance but don't have to throw a 4 year deal at Kyrie.

I don't think the intention to sign with the lakers was ever real.

The nets are the winners here.

They didn’t fold for Kyries bluff. Kyrie obviously wanted to leave but he wasn’t able to scare the nets into trading him for Westbrook.

Ben covers so much of what was missing for them in the playoffs the past season, which is defense, rebounding, and playmaking. Harris will give them another deadly shooter. Guys like seth and drummond now have time to build chemistry with their teammates. Marks is a good enough GM where I would be confident in his ability to re-tool the bench and role players. The only thing I'm worried about other than health is coaching. Nash has not shown that he is good enough, but narratives can change, just look at JKidd.

People laugh at their failures this season, but they have a squad and imo can contend with anybody.

lol ben

good luck with that

In the right role I don't see why he cannot contribute in a similar manner to draymond green. There's a place in basketball for guys that contribute in different facets of the game other than shooting. While not ideal, anyone that understands basketball would know this. BS is a multiple time all star. As long as there are guys that can score and shoot around him, which the nets have, he can contribute positively.

From a pure basketball analysis standpoint, playmaking and defense was what the nets were missing the most in the playoffs. What are ben's strengths? Defense and playmaking.

Now, if we factor in his overpaid contract and entitled attitude, it seems like a toxic situation. With that said, all of these guys will be going into the season with monster chips on their shoulder. I think they will be on the same page. Or it could come crashing down..will be interesting to watch either way.
