Just give Tyler his extension. Proven scorer in this league at 22 with potential for more. His number should be in the low 20’s and that puts him in Tim Hardaway Jr range. It also becomes a tradeable contract next year when it takes into effect. Also will keep him happy and maybe even convince to remain in his bench role or truly take it to the next level and destroy any competition in training camp.

1. Asked about Irvin being the big fish we were trying to go for. Answer was a laugh and said no. Saying he was a possibility we through very little assets at. He did see two separate packages put together for him but it didn't move the needle. Nets came back with a request, heard some of the senior exec's laughing about the ridiculousness of it, but he didn't see what it was. It was a consensus across the table nobody was gonna offer anything of too great of value. Biggest conversation was Irvin's best interest is to play out another year, prove to be a winning player in the playoffs without drama and he may be able to get back in the good graces. Opting makes him even more unattractive to the Heat who would be sending off assets for a rental.
2. Asked about PJ, said they feel really confidant he is staying. Nothing from PJ or his Agent on any ultimatums or aggressive conversations, he knows Miami is going to take care of him. Also Philly is struggling trying to trade some of their assets for cap space to make room for him. In the end PJ has been monitored more than most during this time, our players under contract are also really selling him to stay.
3. Asked about Dipo, said he didn't have much on Dipo, but there isn't that confidence he will be back from the staff, there is a number out there from his agent to our team as a target. He doesn't know what it is but he did hear someone mention it was similar to Lowry's or close to it.
4. He did hear a phone call on speaker from another teams exec walking through some possibilities on mid level assets around Duncan's range but there was a resounding No and a comment of that will be hard for you folks to package this year you may need to wait another year and hope he comes out on fire next year.
5. Miami's final offer was sent in with an added asset they didn't want to originally give up for the big fish. However the third team is still very non-committal on accepting, Miami is still submitting the packet hoping they can find a third team to commit by Thursday. This player is under a multi year contract with another team at the moment so no names will be mentioned.
6. Also said they are being really strict with cell phone use, told everyone on Friday that today all phones to be left at their cars or at the sing in desk. Miami sent out a memo today to two specific departments that last years second round pick loss could be elevated if something significant leaks again prior official free agency. Apparently teams talk before free agency and put out feelers and packets together for different situations that the league knows happens but just don't make it obvious or get caught.

Thanks for the update! I wonder who the big fish is and who the 3rd team is that we're trying to get to commit.

But Tyler may get a Jordan Poole type of extension. It was reported 4 years 100 million a few days ago.

If we're able to extend him in Tim Hardaway and Brunson's range, that would be a good asset moving forward.

I mean it would be ridiculous if herro made less money than Duncan 22-25m seems about right

I’ve scoured the league on perimeter scorers on a multi year deal and Mitchell is the only plausible name that makes sense.

Yeah. 4/100 should be fair on both sides.

I mean if Herro thinks he’s worth the max then turning down less and having him prove it is not the worst thing. We can match any offer next year and if he proves worthy we will have no problem matching. 4/100 does seem fair

That big fish has to be Mitchell. That third team is probably someone interested in trading for Duncan. Maybe the Pelicans?

That's the same conclusion I came to, that nugget of multi year left under contract made me do the same thing.

Jimmy Butler was a big fish but he was a free agent who the Sixers did not or could not max so he finagled his way here and the Sixers recouped assets from us. Remember they chose Tobias Harris over him. Perfect storm for us tbh. I don’t see a scenario like that this year unless Wiz are balking at giving Beal the max.

The “big fish” is Eric Gordon.
