Murray will be a good NBA player. He works too hard and is too skilled to not become at least a good player.

I dunno. To me, looks like Ivey is upset in that pic.

Nah, just the timing of the shot. Dude was listening to Cade or something. He's focused.

This is the pick I wanted, glad we got him and Duren. This Backcourt is going to be special if everyone can stay healthy.

From his freshman year, there's a decent amount of clips of him hitting mid-range shots. It makes me think that he doesn't go there that often because he just doesn't need to and he's so athletic. His mid range jumper looks smooth though in the clips where he takes them. His supposed 'lack of mid range' seems like a non-issue to me.

it's definitely an underdeveloped part of his game.

getting off mid range shots is much less about your actual shooting ability and much more about the moves you have to get them off. right now ivey doesn't have a go-to move to get off his mid range shots. a lot of ivey's game is getting downhill fast to get to the rim and it's just hard to build mid range shots off of that. westbrook pretty much only has one (which he shot a lot) and that was to go from driving to stopping on a dime and pulling up.

hopefully just being around cade makes ivey realize that he doesn't have to use athleticism to get to his spots.

I disagree that it's hard for him to get them off. All a fast player like Ivey has to do with a mid-range is just stop and pull. He doesn't need any fancy moves to pull off a mid-range jumper. His first step is elite enough to where if he just pulls up, even off a straight line, all of his defenders momentum will be going in the opposite direction.

Westbrook does it a bunch like you mentioned. If he is playing off ball, once again, it's as simple as catching and curling to the rim and pulling up. There's simply no need for a guy like Ivey to make a bunch of extra movements to get it off.

Ivey is often compared to Ja Morant but to me he appears to be more like Jalen Green.

Sometimes it feels like the Pistons are overly cautious with their players, but seeing Chet get injured in the Jamal Crawford Pro-Am event makes me understand why a bit more.... you hate to see a guy get injured in a scrimmage like that. I was bummed out not to see more of the young guys in Summer League but it certainly makes sense, especially if they have even minor injuries.

Not a bad comp. I think Green is a better shooter and Ivey is a better playmaker at the same stage in their careers but both are athletically gifted players who can get to wherever they want on the court.
