I wonder If going after a young first-time coach vs someone like Stotts or Vogal indicates a rebuild in the near future.

A 5 year deal? They must have a lot of confidence in him, although you hope it doesn't come back to bite them in the backside. I guess its just Ryan's money.

Woj also reporting Fizdale in to the FO. Kinda like the vibes on these events.

I don't know much about Will Hardy but I like that we went with a "new" coach and not one of the established ones who are known quantities. Like bkohler said, since this will be his first head coaching job in the NBA, he will also be likely to stick around if the Jazz decide to rebuild at some point, and grow with the new core.

Also, he has a cool name. It's like a name of a superhero when he's in his regular, everyday persona, like Peter Parker or Clark Kent.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Hopefully this means we've picked a direction for the team. I was hoping for Jensen or Bryant but we'll see how things go. I do like that we got someone young.

This young man is getting very good comments across the league, including from Tatum, so I am optimistic about the hire. Would have loved to have heard the interviews. As this article published Monday before the hire says, the interviewee likely needed to show he was prepared to tackle a wide number of potential scenarios with regard to player personnel and style of play. Our expected roster composition by the end of the 22/23 season is still highly uncertain imo.

It's early, we only have a few exhibition games to see anything, and the talent is lacking .... but I'm still wondering what the offensive and defensive schemes are for coach Hardy & the Jazz. Has anyone caught anything that stands out? Seen signs a a system? This isn't negative or bashing at all, it's just one of my biggest curiosities for the team this year, as we hope Hardy is our coach for years to come.

I think Hardy is in a tough spot because he probably has a certain system he wants to implement but given the point in time where the franchise is, he's not likely to get the roster to do so effectively because there will be a lot of player turnover and roster changes that won't be based on the best fit to Hardy's system but on freeing cap space and accumulating assets. Then again, this is why he was given a 5-year deal, because the FO recognizes he won't have the best set of circumstances to do exactly what he wants in the beginning.

So to me, the question is whether Hardy tries to fit the system to the roster he has, or does he try to make the ever-changing roster play the system he wants even if the roster composition isn't ideal to what he wants (assuming that's the case).

Tough spot for sure. Q had to know this was on the horizon and didn't want any part of it. Hopefully, Hardy will prove to be the first good choice as he is still moldable at this stage of his coaching career and in order for the Ainge plan to have any prospect of succeeding, the coach will need to help make it work for 1-3 years. It seems to me that the revolving door of players during that stretch will have a significant impact on his coaching style. Also wonder how that will contribute to his long term success. Hard to evaluate the strength of a coach if he is not able to implement a system

I think he has mentioned that players are not ready for his system. He probably wants to run a lot. I bet we see a D’Antoni 7 seconds or less but with defensive principles.

That might actually be fun to watch. Hope you're right.

The Jazz seem to have gotten an excellent replacement for Snyder. It's early, but having a lot of average NBA players beat two NBA playoff teams (one on the road!), says a lot! 27 assists in game 1 and 37 in game 2, not an easy feat for a totally new team unfamiliar with one another.
