He still seems super raw might be one of those 2 years away, from being 2 years away situations.

Diop has been playing in a men's league. When playing against his peers, he dropped 20 & 12 .vs. Chet Holmgren and Team USA in the FIBA U19 quarterfinals, but he's no "unicorn" so he won't be starting 82 games as a rook.
Aw, I was talking about #56. I think Diop can eventually come over, just given his NBA ready body.

Oh, the Aussie, Luke Travers. He's also been playing in a men's league known for physical play and one most of us have no clue about. Presumably Altman wanted a draft & stash and was impressed by Travers length and hodge podge of skills. Apparently he was a top prospect who just choose to go pro rather than come over to the NCAA. Still very young, but like Diop has had success in the FIBA youth tournaments.

Wonder if the Cavs should throw a 2 year at the taxpayer MLE at Batum. I know he said he wants to re-sign with the Clippers because they saved his career but with the John Wall stuff, I wasn't sure on money/roster spots for them.

What's the plan for backup PG in that case?

The Cavs extended a QO to Sexton... and RJ Nembhard.

Well obviously they gave the QO to Sexton as pretty sure that's needed to ensure they can match and doesn't prevent them from negotiating a longterm deal. Though who is Nembhard again?

My assumption is Sexton will be back, in some form or fashion.

He's the 2-way PG.

I predict Sexton goes to the Knicks after they lose out on Brunson. Question - if he signs with another team do we get back a TPE?

I think he only goes to the Knicks if they offer him over 20 mil/yr, otherwise I think the Cavs just match.

Question: No, we do not get a TPE back. Though if Sexton goes to the Cavs FO saying he plans on signing a specific deal so they could possibly work out a S&T, then yes if a S&T happens, but that would require the Cavs providing some kind of benefit for the Knicks to give the Cavs a TPE in return when they can just sign him into pure cap space.

Got it. Thank you! I think they were looking to offer Brunson 105M over 4 years? I dont think the Cavs match and I think they deal with the Knicks to get a TPE back.

If I'm the Knicks I'd sign Tyus Jones with the space they already have rather than trade somebody else to pay Sexton. They already have scorers, they need a real PG.

OTOH, let's say they do want Sexton. Either Noel or Burks, who they're looking to dump to make room, fit into Sexton's BYC salary match.

The "primary benefit" would be the Cavs not matching. Front offices have been downright chummy about restricted free-agents in recent years and will generally work something out if there's even the slightest common ground to doing so.

Might depend if they give Thibs a say in the matter and if he's talked himself in to thinking of Sexton as Derrick Rose 2.0 lite, but all signs keep saying nobody is really interested in Collin at the price Rich Paul has been asking let alone compensating the Cavs so they don't match.

We can say the Cavs should just let him walk at a certain number, but you've never heard them say that.

Sexton is a no brainer, but uh Nembhard.

The Knicks didn't clear enough space to sign any of these guys. They have to S&T and in order to do that, they need to offer something good enough to get the other team to agree.

They're in discussions to offload Noel to the Clippers, reportedly. They move him or Burks and they'll be good.

The Clippers don't have space to absorb Noel

Clippers have a $9.7 million TPE that Noel's $9.2 million salary fits perfectly into.

Edit: NVM they just traded Noel and Burks to the Pistons.

I have no idea who's signing Sexton at this point. Both the Knicks and Pistons are out. The Pacers are uber loaded at guard. So are the Spurs. The Magic? OKC?

I'm not buying the S&T stuff with Dallas or the Wizards just because the Cavs would need to prefer what they'd send back over the option of Sexton as a sixth man.
