I’ll be pretty pissed

Talk about a bi polar team, Finals then swept, then eastern finals, (swept or maybe play in team?)
Remember Butler was fresh for the playoffs because he missed around 20 games in the regular season. He won't have that luxury. Lowry missed a ton of games also and even fresh was trash in the playoffs. I can totally see us getting swept.

We are bi polar because we build our team with old vets, and extract everything they have left on the tank.. we pry it out if them and its good for a season or two, but then its over. Then youve got a bunch of holes and only 1-2 core players..

Look how the Warriors are built, the Suns, Mavericks and Bucks.. Boston.. they got their core set for the next 3-5 years.. every offseason their retooling job is not that difficult to get back at it and compete at a high level..

Our core is Butler.. bam has not played up to expectations.. and everyone else on the the team is a roleplayer with no playmaking ability and only herro can sort or create his own shot besides Butler.. not even bam can create his own..

MettaWorldPanda wrote:We are kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. Had no expiring's to get Wood or Grant. Losing out on Tucker cause of the MLE hard capping us. Duncan's contract as of now looks like absolute crap. For every low cost gem we find we always have to counter it with a garbage contract like Duncan's. So our current and potential status looks like this

C Bam Adebayo C Omer Yurtseven C UD C Orlando Robinson(2 way?)
PF TBD PF TBD PF Nikola Jovic
SF Jimmy Butler SF Max Strus SF/PF Caleb Martin(3 year 15mil) SF Haywood Highsmith
SG Tyler Herro SG Victor Oladipo(2 year team option 30?) SG Duncan Robinson
PG Kyle Lowry PG Gabe Vincent PG Javonte Smart(2way?)

You can clearly see the sore thumb sticking out is Duncan Robinson and his 16 million dollar contract as a third stringer. That's just not very good use of cap dollars. We will probably have about 2 million left of the tax payer MLE after Martin. Basically it's a vet minimum. If we don't upgrade via trade with Duncan's contract we are kinda screwed. Spo will probably end up starting Caleb Martin at the 4.

Nikola Jovic might be our starting 4 next year, crazy to think....how far have we fallen

The difference with those teams is that those players are all close in age and timelines....Butler and Bam are kinda at each end of the spectrum were Jimmys is ending and Bams is beginning and Herro is closer to Bams but we cannot waste Jimmys hence why he is the high upside trade bait.

Butler era all kinds of funked up. I will not rue the loss of a 37 year old baller wanting a raise. Lowry bent us over last year. Can't let retired ballers get career best money every year. Almost makes me want to flip Butler for youth so we can stop this goddamn mess from going on any longer.

He speaks and he accepts the terms and conditions of our agreement. Now we need IceCold to deliver the message to Adam via twitter or for a moderator to take IceColds most recent posts on the matter and discuss with Adam via dms. I think IceCold directly would be the best case here as they can speak directly on things they may be hearing now and in future negotiations. If IceCold isn’t comfortable doing that we will work something out

Do I need to reach out to Adam myself here and get the info? Is anyone in here against me doing that and think I just need to leave it alone? I won’t provide the name of the poster or who their source is, just the details. If anyone is against this please let me know, especially my great brethren who provided us with the info.

looks like lebrons new strategy is to convince ppl that hes the goat because gsw had to build the greatest team in history to beat him LOL. isnt it funny how that was like 7 years ago and here we are still discussing it? gee i wonder why? maybe it cuz lebron and his passe cant get over the fact that he has now lost his grasp on the nba and curry is now the face of the nba, not him.

If that the case they need to just trade him now while the pot is still hot, or does he need to re prove himself after that terrible playoff run he put together

God bless the Knicks. Whenever you think you're team is faltering, you can just look up at the Mecca of basketball, New York City, and breath a sigh of relief.

Knicks are becoming a meme at this point. Gutting the roster for a unproven guy who will command 25+ million per year? I'm sure that will end well

Brunson is good, but he's getting some serious cash. I guess we're about to find out how good he is.

Big loss for Dallas though. They phucked up there.

***Update

Just got of the phone with my boy, lots of new tidbits of information.

1. PJ is not pushing any agenda to get the full midlevel right off the bat, opening in free agency if it hurts the teams ability to get better, however if Miami cannot show any promising trades or scenarios he will hope to get it. Everything is still looking at him resigning, the twitter gossipers are pushing an agenda. Philly was involved in some packets with his name and as a third team which they were trying to get in on Miami off loading some dollars during the Irvin storm.

2. Nets still keeping options open with Miami as a line of communication, however the senior staff want nothing of the sort. Too much of a liability for expiring and Brooklyn is still asking for Herro & Lowry + Picks tentatively. He said that it smells like Durant has not enjoyed how this whole process was handled with too much being leaked by Brooklyn for leverage and could still potentially ask out mid season if they don't turn the ship around. (which Miami wants to have the ability to get in on this later but giving PJ that contract will hurt us with that possibility).

3. The player Miami is targeting with the big trade is still in play however another team is now in the mix and has one up their previous offer which may force us to give up more in this trade. Miami is all in however as they feel this is the way and are waiting until tomorrow afternoon to see what else shakes free. The player also has this team as one of their top destinations so is gonna be a betting war.

4. There was an additional packet from a West team sent in this afternoon but it went to a different team however it was high caliber, as they have Andy involved on making something work. Gonna try and get more scoop on this tomorrow if he can.

5. There are now 2 possibilities of offloading Duncan for another player of similar value, and another for picks and a expiring which could be bought out. Depending on where the trades are heading Miami has the ability to gain some assets to sweetened one of our bigger deals.

6. He now knows the number Dipo's camp is looking for its a shorter deal and a lot less than Lowry's deal as he originally heard. 2 year deal at 12 Mil per, They want a prove it deal somewhere as they are confident Dipo can regain form and go for a long multi year deal a bigger dollars later. Miami feels they can get that down to 8 or 9, as Dipo likes it here and feels confidant he can earn the starting spot with a full offseason.

Return to Miami Heat
